Hello,
I could not find the Ka6E in the list of gliders polars.
Would it be possible to get it added or to find a file in the format supported by LK8000?
Thank you in advance.
Roger (beginner with LK8000)

You can use the K6CR Polar, the differences are less than the polar approximation differences.

Hello Roger, welcome to LK8000,
if you are unhappy with the K6CR Polar, you can make you own polar file.
Copy the K6CR file and modify the values according to the description in the example polar file Example.plr
this can be found online, as well:
https://github.com/LK8000/LK8000/blob/master/Common/Distribution/LK8000/_Polars/Example.plr
another brief description can be found here:
https://www.gregorie.org/gliding/pna/polar_file.html
If you send it we will include it in LK8000 for the next release.
regards
AL

Thank you AL for your reply.
Actually I expected a significant difference, due to the better glide radio of the Ka6E, with better performance at high speed: at 150 km/h the Ka6e polar shows -2.4m/s, instead of -3.1m/s for the Ka6cr. Also the glide ratio is 34 instead of 29.

Do you mean that LK8000 uses the green curve on your plot?
Than, it is indeed closer to the Ka6e than to the Ka6cr.

I just installed XCSOAR and there, I find a Ka6E definition:
87, 142, 175 km/h
-0.81, -2.03, -3.50 m/s
12.4 mē
310kg (empty mass)

For the Ka6cr, XCSOAR uses
65, 130, 170 km/h
-0.67, -2.26, -4.69 m/s
12.5 mē
310kg (empty mass)

I tested these data in LK8000, but both give the same glide ration.

Yesterday, I used LK8000 for the first time during a 3h local flight, but the log is not complete.
Also, every time I woke up the smartphone, it showed an GPS error message and took some time to recover.
I have now excluded LK8000 from the battery saving setting as I do for other GPS applications; this is possibly the reason.
I will make another post concerning the possibility to perform a post-flight analysis (OLC distance) with LK8000.
Doing a real time replay takes time and I have the impression that a faster replay skips data.

Yes, the green polar is used in LK8000, you can check it in
Info -> Analysis -> Glide Polar
the polar files are stored in the
LK8000\_Polars
subfolder

No, there is no such big difference between the E and CR at 150km/h

https://www.alexander-schleicher.de/flugzeuge/ka-6-cr/

I would say -2,5m/s vs. 2,7m/s @150km/h
