Hello friends
I have SteFly and I respect the LK8000.
I uploaded the image and the program works great.
But I could not fill in the maps and points for the LK8000.
Made a usb flash stick as recommended on the openvario website.
Maps and waitpoints for XCsoar are installed in their directories, but for LK8000 no.
I am not strong in Linux.
Tell me how to do this?
Thank

Always ready

Hello GenIV,
The easiest way to copy the files to openvario is as follows:
Connect an USB-keyboard to Openvario and boot into LK8000 and Quit LK8000. A menu appears, select "Exit to the shell". Plug in the prepared Openvario-USB-stick. Then type
cd /usb/usbstick/openvario/upload/LK8000
to change into the first directory of interest and type
ls -l
to show the contents of the directory on the stick. Change to subdirectory
cd _Airspaces
and have a look what`s inside
ls -l
You should now see the files you copied there before. Type
cp *.txt /home/root/LK8000/_Airspaces/
assuming your airspace files are in txt-Format. If you succeeded, type
cd ..
to jump one directory higher. Type
ls -l
again to show files and directories. Change to the _Maps-Directory
cd _Maps
and show the files
ls -l
There should be some LKM-Files and some DEM-Files. Copy them to the appropriate directory typing
cp *.DEM /home/root/LK8000/_Maps/
and
cp *.LKM /home/root/LK8000/_Maps
. Then type
cd ..
to jump one directory higher and type again
ls -l
to get an overview again.
cd _Waypoints
,
ls -l
and
cp *.CUP /home/root/LK8000/_Waypoints/
will do the rest... Finally, type
exit
to quit the shell and come back to the menu. Start LK8000 and activate the copied files... Good luck!

There is a new preview image (20067) available for the Openvario and I hope that LK8000 (and Tophat) will find their way into the new images soon! For details see https://forum.xcsoar.org/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=3642#p20702 (feel free to copy the content to this forum if you prefer).

Works for me, sorry if I am missing something here. If it doesn´t work for you go to the XCSoar forum, Openvario and thread "Openvario - New Preview Image 20067".

Unfortunately this happens to me as well sometimes and seems to be an issue with the internet provider. Like access denied from my cell phone over mobile data but when I switch to local WiFi (with different provider) it works. This is the announcement, since then an image for 7" Texim LCD was added and a font / screen size issue is discussed.

****
In the last years Openvario software development was mostly stuck on a Linux 3.4 kernel due to missing Mali drivers in newer kernels. This has changed in principle with new drivers (Lima) implemented in Linux 5.2 mainline kernel but required a lot of additional efforts to make it work on the Openvario. Fortunately, kedder (Andrey), linuxianer99 (Timo) and Caz took up the challenge so here it is - the preview (alpha release) of a new Openvario image!

Download:
You can download image 20067 for PixelQi 7" and Texim 5.7" Openvario from
https://github.com/Openvario/meta-openvario/releases or
ftp://ftp.openvario.org/images/

Changes:
- Switch to yocto warrior release
- Added Lima KMS support
- Kernel 5.2-rc2
- U-boot 2019.04
- XCSoar 7.0_preview12-Linux
- More languages supported

What works / open issues:
- The image boots into XCSoar, OVmenu settings work, rotation works, upload / download works (requires manual mounting of USB drive), WiFi dongles work (RT5370 and RTL8188CUS tested)
- USB thumb drive automount missing (there is a pull request from kedder already, up to now you need to create /usb/usbstick and mount manually)
- touch works, but touch calibration /rotation not yet
- variod sound output broken
- no connman-ncurses included, use connmanctl (see https://www.ev3dev.org/docs/tutorials/s ... mand-line/)
- does not work with XCSoar versions newer than 7.0-preview12 (regression in XCSoar, see https://github.com/XCSoar/XCSoar/issues/351)
- Tophat and LK8000 not included yet

This image is not recommended for actual use in flight but feel free to download and test it! The probably most important improvement is that building an image is now easier than ever before and more devs can participate in further development - see you on https://github.com/Openvario !

My standing ovations to kedder (Andrey), linuxianer99 (Timo) and Caz!
Michael

Dear mihu
I did tests LK8000 release 20115 on SteFly.
Identified several problems
1. LK8000 unstably receives data from the GPS sensor. When you turn on the inscription GPS there is no RX data. But XCsoar with GPS works flawlessly.
2. in the LK8000 there is no reception of data from the IAS sensor. Personally, duplication of IAS and the "L/D Vario" parameter are critically important to me.
3. Twice in flight, the LK8000 hung (very unpleasant). I think because of the GPS. I switched to XCsoar. he works well
4. In LK8000, it is not possible to control the switching of the bottom panel using a stick(left-right). Except in mouse mode. But this is a flight!
5. In the LK8000, the upper target panel does not switch when pressed. Even with the mouse. And this is the standard feature of the LK, for which we love her)))
6. The horror of loading data from external USB stick to internal directories. At the aerodrome, these procedures do not let you sleep all night before the flight))
I respect LK8000, although she does not correctly calculate the final glide))))
The one who repairs the LK for openvario is great!
