How can I add an Airway in an Openair file. In SeeYou this is possible with DY (Airway segment) but in LK it seems to be impossible. |

OpenAir is just a text file, so create a new segment following the pattern of other segments. Name, type, base, top, geographical points, etc, and copy and paste it into the file and save. Doesn't matter where you put it in the file.Do check and double check everything though! |

This is what I made for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on May 4 in the Netherlands:

To close the route I reversed all the waypoints from the final to the first waypoint. In SeeYou you get nice rectangular segments and the width can be set by: V W=number. Do you mean I have to make all the segments (geographical points) by myself to make it work in LK?
EDIT: deleted DY 52:42:30 N 004:04:00 E in reversed portion of airway definition, position not needed |

Yes you do have to make the points yourself. As far as I know that is how it has always worked, SeeYou may have introduced an easier way. Not come across DY before, OpenAir uses DP. Note the * between each segment Here is a sample, part of our WaveBox * AC W AN CAMPHILL BOX FL100 AL FL85 AH FL100 DP 53:27:19 N 001:46:17 W DP 53:30:17 N 001:16:41 W DP 53:19:38 N 001:15:32 W DP 53:20:12 N 001:18:40 W DP 53:21:10 N 001:29:01 W DP 53:19:30 N 001:31:31 W DP 53:12:44 N 001:31:41 W DP 53:11:37 N 001:36:31 W DP 53:27:19 N 001:46:17 W * AC W AN CAMPHILL BOX FL190 AL FL100 AH FL190 DP 53:27:19 N 001:46:17 W DP 53:30:17 N 001:16:41 W DP 53:19:38 N 001:15:32 W DP 53:20:12 N 001:18:40 W DP 53:21:10 N 001:29:01 W DP 53:20:03 N 001:30:42 W DP 53:14:18 N 001:24:49 W DP 53:11:37 N 001:36:31 W DP 53:27:19 N 001:46:17 W * I think OpenAir started out as Cambridge (the vario company), a web search should find more information. You close by repeating the first DP at the end, as you will see above.

I created this file through trial and error.
At first I used DP and then got a line on the map (from start to finish and back). I then searched further in the online manuals of the Openair format. It provides information about the Airway segment DY with the comment NYI (not yet implemented).
In one of the manuals I read that Naviter uses the classification AWY and I tried DY instead of DP. Then I figured out how to determine the width with V W=, resulting in the file above.
The image comes from SeeYou and I also converted the .txt file to .cub and tested it in the LX simulator. The Airway segments were also neatly displayed here.
Unfortunately I have no information about how DY works.
I think that this is what DY does: https://ibb.co/9vr08vH and https://ibb.co/sRmqsCs |
