Dear all, I bought a Euro 12, small Elfin-EW10 RS232 to Wifi unit. I connected it to my RedBox FLARM and 12 V power. It works beautiful, I now have GPS, Hbar, Flarm via Wifi on my KOBO into LK8000. Simular to AL's bridge, only this Elfin box is ready made (and also small). Super easy!!

Hi Robert,
which Kobo are you using?
and how do you avoid problem with Kobo wi-fi shutting down after a while?
I have never managed to solve this problem, so have given up on wi-fi to Kobo.

More details, please :-)

Nice,
just a hint:
You should check the power consumtion (current in mA, comparing 5V and 12V supply) of the Elfin?
I'm afraid it has a simple LDO voltage regulator with a quite high power dissipation on 12V.

looking on the device it shows 5W
5W/12V = 417mA

Hi AlphaLima,
Never checked that...Hope it is not a problem. Maybe go down to 5V?

Sorry AlphaLima, Going down to 5V makes the current only higher, of course....

I use Clara HD,
it was disconnecting wi-fi after 120 minutes.
As I understand it - kobo don't have 'auto renew' of dhcp lease...
Not easy to fuff around trying to re-connect it while flying :-(

so if i understand it's depends of lease time configured in DHCP server, a common DHCP lease time is 24h, it could be insteresting to know what is lease time of your Elfin device...

I just ran KL8000 on my Kobo with wifi data feed via Elfin for 24 hours without any disconnect.
Measuring of current value shows approximately 150 mA
