Dave clear your browser cache, refresh the website and you get the new version. On your smartphone google play should already be able to update. |

Waypoint lookup filtering by name does not work on my 7.1j. If it was the same at 7.1xy I do not know. If I choose the A as first input I get Zwickau. I have many waypoints starting with an a. |

yes, same here. but... if you continue beyond "A" you will get Zwickau as one of the available waypoints but the behaviour of search doesn't seem very logical :-) for example if I type "T" the first suggestion I get is "Wyton"
weird... |

I think a mistake is being made here. After you have entered one or more characters, you must press OK. You will then see a list of possible names from which you can choose. The name that appears after entering one or more characters is the last result of the query. |

Right that is the way how it works. We are filtering all waypoints containing that substring. This does not necessary mean it start with this substring.
“Town” finds: boomTOWNrats GeorgeTOWN TOWNhall The last of this list is selected. In this case TOWNhall.
The confusion comes from the filtered list, where the last (in alphabetic order) filtered entry is selected.
If we would have a Zulutown as well, this would be selected, since it is the last entry in the filtered list.
The more letter you type the smaller is this list. Maybe we should select the first of the list, but this makes the selection algorithm much slower and has the same confusing effect.
AND you can search for the airfield code at the same time e.g. EHAM for Amsterdam.

I agree it is confusing at the first view, but it is not a bug, it is a feature!
for exapmle, you have heard about the well known airfiled "St. Auban", the correct name is "Château-Arnoux - Saint-Auban" In the french CUP File it is defined as: "CHATEAU ARNOUX SAINT AUBAN" code LFMX
How to search for it? In LK you can simply search for one of the words: AUBAN, SAINT, ARN even LFMX or substring UBAN (...try to find it in another software!)
BTW: you can also search for the field number of an Outlanding Catalog |

If I search for Aschaffenburg I do not expect to get Zwickau in the input field (it is not a list). I need to enter "ASCHA" to find it. And before I have suggestions in the input field that do not give me hope to be on the right way. While flying it is very confusing because I would assume that I entered a wrong letter. The speed for the sort-algo is eventually a minor issue because entering the letters without keybord consumes much more time. As it is now those get help who do not know what they are searching for, others may feel misdirected. |

This is no problem if you're aware of that effect and if you exclude all airfields outside your selected terrain, this list is reduced to all relevant waypoints only.
(but maybe we should not show a found waypoint in the keyboard dialog, I'll see what I can do) |

Is a feature something that seems to be wrong as long as you don't get expained it? To take up your idea: May be you don't show what you found until the user pressed an "OK"-button. Afterwards a sorted list opens for selection. |

It is not wrong it is just one one of many results, but one that is not as obvious as others.

I think the most intuitive approach is to select the one with the most left sub string occurrence. Seems that is what you implicit expect. |
