hello,
There are two sketches published on the link included in your mail:
ESP32-Serial-Bridge.ino and config.h both entitled "Bluetooth port added. What should be copied in the IDE compiler?
For both of them I get compilation errors:
for ESP32-Serial-Bridge.ino: "NUM_COM" was not declared in this scope
for config.h: compilation error for NODEMCU-32S
My board is a NODEMCU ESP-32S V1.1

Hi Henri,
you must have config.h and ESP32-Serial-Bridge.ino in the same subdirectory "ESP32-Serial-Bridge" inside the arduino directory.

Hello,
Now I get this message:

Sorry, it's in French; but it says the sketch uses to much memory.

Seems to me like you have a different memorymap for the Node32s in your installation.
So you either disable Bluetooth by removing
#define BLUETOOTH
in config.h
or change the partition size as described here:
https://desire.giesecke.tk/index.php/2018/04/20/change-partition-size-arduino-ide/

EDIT: I updated the GIT Sourcecode with disabled Bluetooth by default, also updated a new Pinning to allow USB flashing while all MAX3232 are connected.

Hello,
The compilation terminate now without errors; coherent data stream present at the terminal screen with status GPSFix. No messages at the navigation screen of LK8000 however, some strange behaviour:GS at 0, position somewhere on the moon etc...
I was able to test successfully with your version from 5 month ago"bdbdc7e0bf.
I test with Lefebure GPS receiver simulator at 19200 bauds

Any idea?
Henri

Please note that the pinning has changed to be able to flash together with hooked up MAX3232, this is described in the readme and change notice.
So you either change the hardware or the PIN assignemt in config.h

Hello,
Your last version is still not working:
The data stream is present on the terminal screen of LK8000 but these data's are always the same whatever is send by the nmea simulator. It seems that the ESP32 is always sending the contain of a buffer which is never updated by the incoming new position data's.
The navigation screen looks OK but everything is wrong (position, speed etc...)
To get a new set of data's, you have to reset the esp32 an then the same as describe above continue

Hi all,

New here: active glider pilot, mostly mountain flying in the French Alps with number of friends looking for the same answer. Used to run LK8000 (super) on vertica V2 with Redbox Flarm data and external power fed to V2 via converter
and using mini usb port. V2 recently died on me.

I now want to run LK8000 on Kobo Aura Clara HD. I already ordered a BlueFlyVario_TTL_GPS_v12 for GPS and Hbar.

Disadvantage: external container hard wired to Kobo; hole in Kobo, redundant vario; no Flarm data.

I now read here there is a better solution: wireless data transfer of Flarm Redbox data to Kobo using wifi.

I want to understand the basic basics of what I need to do to make this work:

1) Build a "box: that can transmit Redbox Flarm data wireless to Kobo via wifi protocol.
2) supply power to this "box" (from 12V battery using a transformer?)
3) Wire connect the output port of the Redbox Flarm unit to this "box" (output port is a 6p telephone type female connector??)
4) do some programming of Kobo/LK8000

Is this correct??

Thanks!
Robert

Yes that is correct.

(For 12V->5V conversion google for UBEC!)

Thank you very much AlphaLima! I will try to build a box.

On the internet I found the Pdf with your WiFi SerialBridge Manual. The pictures of the bridge you have built are very clear.

Can I use the same components and build a copy of your bridge?

If you want to discuss this off line, that is fine too, of course!
