Hello,
I am resurrecting this very old post concerning wind calculation based on IMU/GPS fusion. This technique has certainly excellent potential for horizontal wind estimation but could also be used for vertical wind estimation i.e. compensated vario, without traditional TE probes wind gradient sensitivity. I started a discussion with Bill Premerlani who would be interested to support investigation of the algorithms developed for the UDB/matrixpilot platform more specifically for glider use. I was wondering if you guys already tried this approach and if you had any success.
BTW, I was planning on using LK8000 to display UDB vario and wind and was wondering what would be the most appropriate NMEA sentence to use.
Regards, JL |
