Hi everybody! The new beta4 version is now available.
There are important fixes for all PNAs concerning font size: the beta4 includes the work made by Rob Dunning which sizes fonts automatically by looking at the screen resolution. But there's more than that: PNAs and PDAs users can now change fonts in a new system config menu 12, which displays current fonts and easily allows to set new preferences. It's a big step forward!
Two new PNAs are fully supported: Nokia 500 and Medion's family. These PNAs have special key buttons that are now available to the software.
HP31X users can now enable/disable backlight and sound settings.
Initial support for paragliders is started, with a couple of important requests already accomplished!
Please give me feedback here on the user list (so that we all share informations on what's going on) expecially about font settings if you own a PNA. We need to know if any screen resolution still has got problems.

- New system config menu 22 "Specials"
Device type is now here, together with special functions.
- (added patch by Rob) Fixed font in checklist dialog
- Added preliminar Paragliding mode and Usage Mode configuration in Specials (See paragliding manual section).
You can set Paraglider Usage mode in system config specials menu (22). Hopefully we shall customise
XCS for paragliders, currently screen locking and zoom are already accomplished.
- Enhanced zoom for paragliding mode: should get a little bit deeper, but still need fixes in order to
get to 100m zoom (currently 350m is max zoom).
- Automatic map screen locking for paragliding mode: touching an infobox will disable moving map key actions.
To unlock moving map, double click on it (a status message saying MAP UNLOCKED will appear).
If you call menu by double clicking on infoboxes, as usual, you can choose DISPLAY and then FULL SCREEN.
Even in this case, moving map is LOCKED. Double click on it to unlock it.
- Added Automatic Sound level ON/OFF system config Specials menu (for all PNAs and PDAs)
Sound level is being set automatically to max, if enabled.
- Added Automatic Backlight ON/OFF in Device system config menu (HP31X only)
This feature is now selectable, so you have to enable it manually.
- More clipping for airspace for HP31X and Medion PNA.
Medion PNA expecially had a nasty clipping problem, now solved.
- Added Medion P5xxx device modeltype for fixing graphic clipping problem
- Added code by Rob for Font editing and setting. Automatic font settings for screen resolutions.
(testing). This is a really neat feature for all PNAs and PDAs. Font setting is now accomplished by
looking at the screen resolution of the running device, and does not depend on the device model type.
Only exception is HP31X which has special font settings for different screen geometries.
In config menu 12 now you can also manually change fonts: try it!
- Added PNA model Nokia 500 , full use of hardware keys (up/down/enter)
Transcoding of special hw keys is now accomplished also for Nokia.
- Menu system improved (default.xci is inside XCSoarData in the distribution: that's exactly the embedded one).
Menu Vario and submenus have been removed (useless since they were for altair hardware only).

Guardare bene, berto...
Rispetto alla beta3 ci sono le aggiunte di cui sopra, per cui se non ti servono fai pure a meno di prendere la beta4. Tra l'altro c'è un piccolo bug per i PNA MEDION P5, per cui rilascerò domenica la beta5. Tu prendi solo quello che ti serve, se vedi cose che ti interessano, o bachi pendenti risolti.

Beh, il cambio di font mi interessa.
L'ho scaricata, la provo in simulazione su PC, poi deciderò.
Ma il file GrecordDll da usare qual'è?
Quello che era compreso nella ver 5.2.2 (il file cab) va bene?

| no, la versione 5.2.2 distribuita in CAB non è quella che ho fatto io, è una versione ridotta e il grecord è sbagliato. Puoi pero trovare da me il grecord per ppc2002 corretto. |

Provata. Fantastica: funziona benissimo, a partire dai font.
Anche il vento e' indicato correttamente (forse il moi era solo un problema di setting).
Unico neo e' che su certe "color maps" il font nero non e' affatto leggibile; se si potesse implementare un algoritmo tipo "color add" sarebbe il massimo (qualcuno ha l'eMail di Rob per contattarlo direttamente?). |

Ma il grecord che c'è nel tuo sito per la ver 5.2.2F, va bene anche per la 5.2.3Fb3?
Perchè se ce ne vuole uno diverso io non l'ho visto. |

| C'è solo un GrecordDll.dll, non è cambiato. Solo attenzione alle differenze tra PPC2002 e 2003, perche sono due dll diverse. |

Allora installo l'unico ppc2002 che ho trovato sul tuo sito.
Avevo mandato due file all'OLC, ma sono stati classificati non validi, dici che può essere il grecorddll sbagliato?
Cosa farebbe sto file? |

Il G record è un codice numerico che trovi in fondo al file IGC e ne certifica l'autenticità e la non alterazione. Questo codice viene aggiunto da xcsoar utilizzando la libreria GrecordDll.dll (un nome che definire pietoso è ancora poco)..
Sul manuale principale trovi le indicazioni su come controllare che il grecord sia stato riconosciuto dal programma, cosi da poter funzionare e aggiungere la chiave necessaria in fondo al file. |

un pezzettino in piu di info sui G-Records:
e' un "codice" calcolato sulla base dell'insieme dei caratteri presenti nel file.
Viene aggiunto in fondo al file.
Quando si vuole controllare che il file sia autentico, cioe non sia stato modificato nulla, si ricalcolano i G-Records e si confrontano con quelli scritti in fondo al file. Se sono uguali, il file non e' stato modificato, altrimenti il file e' stato modificato.
Il cambio anche di un solo carattere, genera dei GRecords diversi.
Per ottenere l'approvazione FAI/IGC, i registratori di volo devono superare indenni delle sessioni di "hacking" da parte di esperti, che cercano di ingannare il sistema. E' molto improbabile che qualcuno ci riesca. |

Non voglio addentrarmi in questi meandri.
Carico il Grecord che trovo su Bware e vediamo se funziona.
Ma per il CID i voli registrati con XCSoar vanno bene?
O ci vuole un file di log da un Logger certificato IGC? |

I voli senza dichiarazione e non per insegne sono accettati dal CID se l'OLC accetta la registrazione. XCsoar è accettato come sistema di registrazione purchè i log siano "firmati" con il Grecord (come SeeYou mobile e altri software).

Caro Giancarlo,
ho un becker 7827 su cui vorrei provare XCsoar. Sei così cortese da darmi la procedura. Ho preparato la SD con il programma per PNA, ma credo serva qualche cosa per operare lo sblocco e lavnciare il Win CE (sull'apparecchio dichiarato CE 5.0)
