Hi, currently DEM file contains 0m ASL area shows nice blue water. Unfortunately, in Poland we have a few quite huge depression area (<=0m AMSL). LK shows that area as a sea what is wrong.

I think that we have two - easy to implementation - alternative solutions:

1. LK shows sea ONLY for 0m AMSL - but not for <0m AMSL. I can prepare DEM file with sea with 0m AMSL and <0m AMSL for depression area.

2. LK has additional config parameter, something like "Display sea for 0m AMSL". So - I can turn it off and prepare map (not terrain) with additional layer contains sea.

I think - both solutions maintain backward compatibility with old maps.
Regards
Ryszard.

if coast_area is not found in topology file ( or no topology file configured ) terrain altitude is used to paint sea area.

Excellent - it's solution for me. I didn't know about that dependence.

Thanks!

yes i have seen, maybe my first answer is not very clear, i will try to explain...

in very first version of LK8000, terrain altitude < 0 was used to paint sea, but that don't work for lot of country with negative altitude.
to solve this problem, we have include coast_area in topology file and terrain altitude is no more used to paint sea area.
but to maintain backward compatility with hold maps, if coast_area is not found in topology file ( or no topology file configured ) terrain altitude is used to paint sea area.

in your initial post you ask for solution to not paint negative altitude as sea area, answer is simple :
update your topology file to include coast layer, like it's made in this lkm file : https://drive.google.com/file/d/19cvcYDO7JInz8CiJFA-BYSHotauPshkI/view?usp=sharing

Have you seen my previous JPGs? Another version. I have deleted LKM file from LK config - just to be sure. So there are no LKM layers.

Map with terrain ON.

Map with terrain OFF.

yes i'm sure, it's due to your LKM.
but you right, missing layer is not "water_area" but "coast_area".

you can try this lkm file : https://drive.google.com/file/d/19cvcYDO7JInz8CiJFA-BYSHotauPshkI/view?usp=sharing

Are you sure? I think that terrain matters. Take a look:

Terrain OFF:

Terrain ON:

I'm using my own LKM file and there is no sea layer.
