Posted - 12/09/2018 : 15:36:32 Hello, sorry for the long wait but my life changed completely few months later I announced the first iOS beta version here... I've been able to work on it for the past few months and now it is a little more than stable, I used it to record my flight and it works :) Still it's not possible atm to release on the AppStore but I've created a TestFligth for anyone willing to give it a go
https://testflight.apple.com/join/qHeLdwAh
for anyone with the proper skill the code is here, the actual version is based on version 6.1u
How to install maps and other files: Using Chrome for iOS (I think it can be done with safari too): 1) visit http://www.lk8000.it/download/maps.html 2) select your region, country 3) tap on the .LKM file and "download" it 4) tap on the file (at the bottom of chrome) and select "open in.." 5) select "Save To Files" 6) select "On My iPhone" 7) select "LK8000/_Maps" 8) repeat for dem and other resources (airspace etc) 9) open LK8000 go to FLY and configure as usual
this is a short video of me doing it https://share.icloud.com/photos/0UvptFtN_AGkaA_v7mPnVwMSA
In case I get missing (eek) the source codes are here:
https://github.com/nferruzzi/LK8000/tree/iOS
How to build LK8000 for iOS
Requirements: - XCode (see the App Store) - Cocoapods https://cocoapods.org/
Steps: 1. git clone the repository 2. git checkout -b ios --track origin/iOS 3. mkdir Bin/LINUX/Resource 4. make data 5. cd ios 6. pod install 7. open LK8000.xcworkspace 8. fix resource_bmp.png.S by adding missing commas, ie: binfile IDB, Bin/… 9. BUILD
Note: btw, I'm no longer in touch with the Team so I've no idea how well they will like this release :)
Edited: added official TestFlight link supporting anonymous testers Edited: bumped to 6.1u Edited: added instructions to save maps to LK8000 and to build the version by yourself |

Posted - 14/06/2019 : 08:58:31 I have to report what it might be a bug: Device: iPhone 8 IOS Version: 12.3.1 LK Version: 6.1u Behaviour: After I lock the screen with the LOCK SCREEN button the system cannot unlock it using the usual "double click on low right corner". The only way is to turn the phone off. |

Posted - 10/02/2019 : 15:17:54 iOS release is a big missing in LK8000! I understand all license related problems but... c’mon LOTS of pilots around the world are waiting for this!
I use kobo for flights, and iPhone will never be my primary device, but would still love a iOS version as a backup
Anyway, thanks to everyone in the team for your great work! |

is all ios related the "core" part works fine

Posted - 09/10/2018 : 21:40:26 I'm testing the iOS version, which looks quite good. I know MANY pilots which have prayed a lot to have an iPAD / iPhone version. Having this version too (if possible, of course) means a lot of further success for LK8000. |

Posted - 28/09/2018 : 21:28:52 Just to make it less clear. You are linking 7 years old article. Things has probably changed.
VLC is on AppStore for few years now.
VLC for Mobile od: VideoLAN https://itunes.apple.com/cz/app/vlc-for-mobile/id650377962?l=cs&mt=8 Now anyone can take source code, compile it and upload into his own device without paying. M. |

Posted - 26/09/2018 : 17:22:27 Just to make clear why!
LK8000 is developed under GPLv3, Apples AppStore ToS (Terms of Service) do not allow to distribute GP licened Software.
https://www.zdnet.com/article/android-vs-iphone-the-gpl-question/
Quote: "For most developers, though, if you're creating GPL software, you can sell it through the Android Market, but not through Apple's App Store. It's that simple. Now, if Apple changes their ToS, it would be a different story, but I think I'll see Adobe Flash in the Apple iPhone App Store before that happens."
For the same reason XCSoar can't be found in the AppStore and the well known VLC Player had to be removed from "Apples" AppStore!

Posted - 25/09/2018 : 17:12:21 I got some private reply and I'm sorry to say that unfortunately an official release on the AppStore is not going to happen any time soon, for the moment we stick with TestFlight |

|

Posted - 17/09/2018 : 20:34:53 I know but I'll do it if I get the consent from at least the LK team, otherwise it will be TestFlight forever :) I'm not going to release it for just getting asked to remove it few days later. So if any of you reading can ask them to reply it would be great |
