@Allanart
It looks very promising and a lot like the new Vertica that Coolwind was testing! Can you give us the real productname? |

its the same!
Probably a chinese supplier, via Alibaba or something similar. These chinese electronics manufacturers have certain models on offer, but can be tweaked to your needs like a brighter screen, and adding SPP Bt. They also are willing to put your brand name on it, like Vertica, or GliderGuider... but most of the time need a minimum quantity, or it gets very expensive.
So therefore I advise to get together vertica and gliderguider, in stead of strugling both to get the minimum quantities and end up with nothing. |

Dear All - sorry I have not been in contact recently on the forum but we have been working on the V2 which is currently being tested. I can not comment on whether the unit from 'Allanart' is exactly the same as ours but there does appear to be many similarities, though it is mentioned above that the screens are different. As a UK business we do not have any issues with obtaining the minimum order, but what is important is we're making sure the V2 works and works well, overcoming the issues experienced with the V1. Marco I do agree with your post above. The V2 will be going into production very soon..... I will keep everyone posted.
Kind regards Lawrence |

We can confirm that Allanarts unit is the same unit as the V2 that we have helped develop over the last few months and are currently testing. The fact that in such a small industry unethical practices are still welcomed disappoints us greatly.
The V2 has to be tested further before it will be ready for the market. With pilot's safety and money in mind we think that it is wrong to rush this product to the market after all lessons learnt with the V1 and feedback received. We are pushing to get this ready as soon as possible but Vertica will not be releasing this product if it doesn't meet the high standards that our customers expect from us. If any one has any questions about this product please send me a PM and I will be happy to answer any questions as best I can.
King regards Lawrence

With the LK8000 startup screen :)
I think will happen the same story again, Vertica V1 and all the clones, starting from $200 and some of them were reaching + $400!
As You can see there is 86 potential resellers asking ODHITEC questions. I think to be able to sell more and lower the pricing, they should reach to everybody who needs sunlight readable GPSs, like convertible cars, motorbikers, bikers, sailing hobbyists, and everywhere else where sun exposure is high and gps usage is necessary.
just my 2 cents... regards Jarek

Free market that sometimes blocks the access to great devices!
In my idea, good device + good price + more users = everyone happy...
My personal experience tells me that every time I share a good device, the first question is "What much it cost?". And 99% run away from the device because of the price... not only runaway from the device, also from LK8000 because it's hard to get LK8000 running well in the sunlight!
This is being negative? This is being realistic! |

| So how do you explain the same device being sold from $200 to $400? :) |

Or, one develops a product and has all the effort and costs (for development, tests, demo units, marketing, service and support) which must be part of the unit price,
the other sells a copy or get the goods direct from the manufacturer without this effort. (plagiarism)
This will lead into low prices but will soon or later stop innovative developments.
[NOTE added from Paolo: I REMOVED all of GliderG. messages, and wont let him-them advertise here. They will do it in Alibaba if they can, which I doubt of.] |

Vertica Sports was giving a great deal and support on Vertica V1! I just hope they keep the same! And they were the shop selling the device at the best price, all the other clones were more expensive!

What is the company name selling the device and owning the trademark GliderGuide, then? I guess the website is owned by such company, as the trademark is.
[OK, I waited for a few days, no answer, no web, no company, and no more messages on postfrontal for sure.] |

I have now achieved my goal of using LK in flight via a Mirasol sunlight readable screen which uses no backlight at all in high ambient light conditions.
Here's a video I shot today of LK8000 in action https://vimeo.com/44480401

In my view, pumping more watts through an LCD may not represent a sustainable or efficient solution to sunlight readability

@Lawrence.. Any news on when the Vertica V2 will come out?
@Fatalbert.. I agree with you, but there are still no Smartphones with Mirasol displays.. Would be great if LK8000 on android comes out at the same time Adroid Smartphones are released with Mirasol displays!
Also any news about the PixelQ device you were suppose to get around this time? (however it would be a great device, the prices of PixelQ devices are out of my league (near €1000)) |
