Just flown my first Distance Handicapped (Variable Barrel) competition: great fun; looking forward to more.
Couple of LK8000 issues: 1. In addition to the variable barrel turn points, some of the tasks had 'normal' control points to get us around airspace. I could not get the system to allow both.
2. Briefing often includes a couple of different sized tasks, allowing last minute weather changes. With each task having a different barrel size, it is dead easy to leave the wrong barrel size in Config.
3. (might be a UK only problem) With challenging weather, 'shower sectors' were often specified in addition to the barrels (180deg x 10km). I think the DAeC have something similar.
Perhaps, might something like an option for each TP 'default or ...' be possible?
Thanks

I have flown a few grand prix's with the same issue, I simply used the AAT feature, which is quite easy to adjust the barrel size for each turnpoint, you still can use the automatic next turnpoint with AAT, and use the optimizer to calculate the shortest distance.. Works pretty well! |
