Hello,
Israel has terrain under sea level. In LK8000 that land is all painted blue. I read that this is a known issue ("LKMAPS do not suffer of the infamous problem of "water instead of land" on some areas. For example, the Netherlands appear blue on XCSoar")

I'm wondering if someone would kindly be able to fix that, or point me at the right direction to fixing it myself. thanks!

..adding to my own question after more research:
XCsoar actually does not have the same water bug with Israel's map. also, it seems to have a better topology map as well, with all the towns/villages of Israel. (It uses Hebrew text as well, which I wouldn't think LK supports)

How do I go about to importing XCsoar's map to LK8000? Is there a tool to convert .jp2 files to .dem ?

I changed xcsoar's israel.xcm file to .lkm file, and opened it in LK8000. It does load, somewhat, but only the roads. It won't display town names (probably because the names are in Hebrew, Arabic and English?)

If I edited out the hebrew and arabic from the corresponding .dbf files, and replaced them with english translations, will the town names display properly?

thank you!

For what it's worth, for the Netherlands maps this bug was solved long time ago, so I think it should be possible for Israel as well.

by email with Paulo:
"Hello
the water area problem is related to topology (same issue of poor topology).
You can try using lkmaps generator on PC to create your new topology and the problem will be fixed I think.
I cannot do it having no time to spend.
best
paolo"

-I tried lkmaps desktop, which did not fix the issue for me.
