Correct,
afaik OpenAIP Format (*.aip) is supported by LK8000 and iGlide only, at the moment.
The waypoint airspacefiles of OpenAIP are supported by LKMaps and can be downloaded by just one click (Android only).

That is correct, but BravoLima said that the OpenAIP CUP files do not work in SeeYou..

I don't mind, as long as they work in LK8000 :-)

But good to see that managing Airspace and Waypoint files getting more automated in LK8000... and using one of the best sources out there! (OpenAIP).

As you can see in the video, setting the frequency in the Radio of a (near) airfield or airspace is just 3 Clicks on the PNA.

So we decided to make it a real part of LK8000.

If your PNA has 2 COM Ports (e.g. Oudie2, Vertica V2, Gliderguider, Kobo via OTG) you can use the native KRT2 driver for a direct connection.

If not (older PNAs), you may need some glue electronics.
I made a little "do it yourself" Project based on the widely used "easy to use" Arduino platform.

For details I made a small manual using the RadioActive feature
https://app.box.com/s/5gr94ahg6l1bnlsmtqo2d9df0etfgh0r

Hello,
I read carefully the small manual to connect my radio KRT2 to my Oudie Lite.

I would like to make the basic connection, UNIDIRECTIONAL radio control, LK8000 -> radio. (I make it easy because it's the first time I try this kind of DIY project)

I bought all the material necessary for the realization (Arduino mini, TTL to RS232, various connectors, ...).
But I have not yet found how to program the Arduino mini, I look for source codes to do it.

Can someone send it to me or tell me I can find it?
Thank you

Hi AlphaLima,
a while ago you send me the code for bidirectional control, but unfortunately I'm not able to compile it. It seems that there are some libraries missing or something like that.
I'm using Arduino 1.8.9 on Mac to compile the code.

First error is that user.h file seems to be missing. Once I add that file (empty), I get

system.c:10:33: error: dee_emulation_pic32.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
exit status 1
dee_emulation_pic32.h: No such file or directory

Can you please tell me, with which libraries I have to compile it?

Thanks, Martin

I have been using the Radio Connection between LK8000 and my KRT2 past few weeks extensively, and I love it! Thanks for developping this highly usefull functionality in LK8000.. I think every aircraft should have this as it reduces the workload considerably and as a result of that also lowers the threshold to call out on airfields to ask for landing info, or if para's are active or whatever.

I use it with a Bt adapter I bought from a guy from Belgium (Sam The Eagle) that fits on the connector of the Radio, very easy to install and set up, works fine with LK8000, no interference whatsoever.

I've been running my LK8000/Kobo Aura 2 connected to a KRT2, T-Beam/FLARM/GPS, and vario via a Manhattan 6-way MTT usb hub all season with no dropped connections. I agree the radio interface makes life a lot easier.

Hallo Marco,

ENGLISH:
In the D sub plug on the back of the KRT2 radio, Pin 2 TX remote and pin 13 RX remote, this is for RS232 communication via com ports specially for remote control of the radio ... Via a wifi module or Bt module or OTG cable you can let them talk again with your phone.

A driver is built into LK8000 for communication with the KRT2 radio.

In my case it was very simple, I bought a Bt module from Sam the Eagle, you just plug it into the plug of the KRT2, at the back of this module there is a plug again where you can connect the on-board cable .

In the phone first connect to the Bt module, which is simply called RADIO, and if that is done, you can choose the KRT2 driver in LK8000 device setup, and then as port Bt: RADIO and you're done.

Next winter I want to try to connect the radio to the wifi module, so that the Bt is released for other things. That means that I have to connect the TX and RX to a UTP cable, not that complicated in itself. All communication to the Smartphone for LK8000 then goes via WiFi. At the moment only the S80 Vario is connected to the wifi module, but 2 ports are still available.

Thanks to Corona, I found the time to add two more features for the Radio control.
In the waypointQuick Dialog you can now chose to the the radio channel on primary (><) or secondary (<) postion.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1qUUSHLPwbmhmRjYBS-YRvVrS1E7yRZ2B

I the radio dialog itself it is now possible to auto select the nearest (Best Alternate B>) airfield frequency for primary an secondary position seperatly.

Hi Marco
Which bt module did you use to connect your krt2? I am looking to do similar to avoid running wires.

I bought a plug and play Bt module from a Belgium glider pilot who made a few of these. It is already 2-3 years ago, so I do not think he has more for sale... I sent you an email with his contact information, so you can contact him yourself.

You can make a BT module yourself using the parts mentionned earlier in this thread.. But soldering these tiny parts is finniky, and my friend did not succeed in doing so, he burned up all the parts I gave him LOL!
