I have my trail set to full. The old part of the trail disappears as I fly. It would be great if the trail was always there for the full flight. My Garmin works this way and I find the trail useful.
Thanks, Steve |

Are you using Glider or Paragliding mode?
In paragliding mode the snail trail is always shorter than Glider mode but the fact, full track is a full track. |

currently snail trail is set to use 1000 points every 5 seconds in cruise and every 1s in thermal which account for about 1,5 hour (full). short trail is 10 minutes approx. We can easily enlarge it up to 10 hours, but we have to check performances first.

Please, consider full trail even at the expense of lower track resolution. |

sorry but extending trail size is not possible in this 5.0 version, due to lack of time left.

That's ok, I don't mind flying with a 5.x beta version :-) Best of luck with completing 5.0! |

Well it is done, and tested by me and Bruno. So it is included in the next beta due immediately. The solution to achieve it is the following: the snail trail button is currently selecting OFF, SHORT, LONG and FULL mode. The full mode was never really working because the trail is limited to 1000 points. Each point is recording several info, and is painted with a color representing a vario or nettovario . After approx. 1.5 hour , the trail is saturated, and old points are removed to make space for new ones.
The new approach is that we save these points that we are removing, and we insert it back into a "full trail" list. This list is made of points with 1 minute time difference each other, or 10 minutes difference if they are taken from a thermalling situation. The points are then painted as usual, connecting to the old trail, in blue color: no vario information. The path is not a 5s interval: it is 60 seconds , as just said. But the result is good enough to be perfectly usable for the scope. By default the snail trail is not "full", so you must use the button to toggle the size.
We log 600 at 1 minute interval, and if you spend 1 hour in thermal only 6 points are logged. Considering also the classic snail trail, 1.5 hours, plus the new full one, we have approx 12 hours or more snail trail now.

I'm enjoying having the full trail now. Thanks again. My request now would be to have some marking on the trail for places I've climbed. An X of a different color or some mark to show where there had been lift before. This would be very useful in wave. Thanks. Steve Tomorrow is first flight with Flarm to V7 to Oudie (LK8000). Had been Flarm to Oudie. |
