I want to connect an android tablet running LK8000 with a LX8080 that has Wifi.
I think the LX8080 can only be a TCP client. So can i make a connection with a Hotspot on the Android Tablet?
Did anybody do this before and what connection parameters must be used in LK8000? (TCPServer or Client; Port, LXV7)
Or do i need a ESP32 Serial Bridge?
Or is it easier to use a Bluetooth Dongle on the LX8080?

after looking into the manual on page 109:
https://gliding.lxnav.com/wp-content/uploads/manuals/lx90xx-80xxUserManualEnglishVer900rev45.pdf

it seems the the NMEA data is transmitted via the serial ports only, I'm afraid it will not work as you like but a WiFi Serial bridge will do the job.

Since I didn't want to make any major changes to the aircraft, I decided to buy a Bluetooth adapter for the LX8080. This is plugged in the (serial) PDA connector. After plugging it in, I was able to establish a Bluetooth connection, but the transmitted data was not usable. I had to change the NMEA data rate in the LX8080 to 115000 and now everything works fine.
I have a connection with the vario and the flarm. I tried the LX, LX Nano3, LXV7 and Flarm driver. All are woking. The only problem is that I cannot declare a task to the Flarm (error message: no Flarm found) and it is not possible to download IGC files from the Flarm (also no connection) with any of the drivers.
A bit of a problem for me as I wanted the excellent Flarm radar on my tablet and it runs perfectly.

Probably your LX8080 FLARM is not a certified IGC logger, and then you cannot decalre tasks into the unit, I have the same issue with my new Powermouse.

Maybe you can buy an IGC licence for the LX8080, for the Powermouse this is possible, but costs about 180 Euro's.

My now decomissioned Red Box was a IGC certified logger, but I never used the feature, as I am not chasing all these FAI Badges... I thought it was required for competitions, but the competitions I have participated in all accept the LK8000 generated files.

But for flarm radar, and other data usage during flight, you won't need this at all. To declare a task is only necessary for getting FAI badges and record certificates, you may ask yourself if you have that ambition. My impression is that glider pilots these days do not care so much about these badges anymore, posting cool flights with pictures on Weglide or OLC is free and attracts more recognition and respect than being on a FAI ranking list that is nowhere to be found.
