LK8000 supports more snail trail colors than it currently uses - it is evident from code of https://github.com/LK8000/LK8000/blob/master/Common/Source/LKSnailTrail.cpp - line 100. First 6 entries describe sink, 7 is neutral, other are for ascend. As you can see most are doubled - it is a pity especially for those +/- 0-1m/s regions.
I suspect it is so because older screens had poor color quality. Android screens are good - so can we change palette so it will use all 15 entries? It would be best to have those color palette configurable - even through DEFAULT_MENU.txt?
My Samsung S4 has build in barometer, LK8000 detects it and I use it as audio vario all the time in XCSoar and I am quite amazed how well it works.
no that's not the reason. On any screen when you wear sunglasses all shades of red and green are looking very similar. Furthermore you have to choose which color means what.
Plase compare this custom color palette: with the same replayed track with standard LK8000 colors: For me those additional gradient colors make it more clear how the lift increases.
Definietly palette from the first picture is not perfect - I probably will get rid of green color which is quite confusing and adjust yellow. Sure, some people may prefer the standard palette, some something totally different - like red for descend - but this is a matter of preferences - thus I was suggesting it would be nice to have configurable palette - through "system setup", engineering menu or config file. I know that default menu currently has nothing to do with palettes.
