FABULOUS!
I installed it on my Nexus 9 tablet, and copied the map, waypoint, airspace, and config files from my PC version.
After adjusting a couple of minor config settings, I then copied the tablet LK8000 folder to my Nexus 5X phone, and everything seems to work BEAUTIFULLY on both devices :-)
Congratulations to the Team! |

One thing I found, not s problem with LK8000. When I downloaded to a phone and put in the maps, there wasn't a lot of space left, so I moved it over to the sd card. When I opened the card to add airspace and waypoints, I couldn't find LK8000, even though it must have been there, because it opened and ran. Even took the card out and put it in a card reader, but still couldn't see it. I had to move it back to the phone drive, add the files, then move it back to the sd card again. Maybe an Android oddity, I know little about this OS. |

Thanks for providing the android version.
Without real flights 2 remarks with german.lng (oracle in english is wrong too) Some text on buttons is cut off. The oracle gives wrong directions for airfields (I didn't notice it for towns) north instead of south west for Dortmund Wickede.

bug found and fixed.
workaround : go System Config Page 9 : use FAI Sphere instead of WGS84 for earth Model.
thanks for feedback. Bruno |

Maybe we need an option to select "UnGhost" also for Android and not only for the Kobos.

The release on Android is having an incredible success also for General Aviation (thanks too to the availability of free updated airspace from OpenAIP). I think some more words about how much good is LK8000 for motorized flight too in the Google Play store would help even more it's adoption for these kind of users.
Thanks to all for the release!!! |

Hi,
Great job, looks very good on my Nexus 5X, and works fast and smooth!!
Few things..
For Maps you now have the external installer LKmaps.. GREAT!
Will there be something similar for waypoints and airspaces?
Post above mentiones OpenAIP for airspaces, could be a good source for airspace files. On the OpenAIP website there is mention of LK8000 supporting the openaip data.. but how does it work then?
For waypoints the WELT2000 database could be used, like in SeeYou. Also on the Welt2000 website is mention of LK8000.
So the support of the data is already there, only the integration in LK8000 is a bit poor and requires nerdy skills. We need to get rid of this manual copy and pasting of files to directories some of us have a hard time to find.
Finally, live tracking is supported via the Livetrack24 protocol, and this should work with Skylines.aero server as well, but I cant get it to work, filled out the skylines.aero as server, my Skylines live tracking key as username, and left the password field empty, (as I do not have a password for skylines live tracking), port I left on 80.. but it does not show on the Skylines live tracking website... When I turn on XCSoar, my position is shown immediately. So what am I doing wrong?
But do not get me wrong, I am very glad LK8000 has come out on Android now, and I am sure a lot of pilots will start using it on their smartphones.

Hm! I have to disagree slightly with Marco, I much prefer to copy and paste all the data files. Maps do not change much, if at all, and I have all the ones I am likely to need on file,so I can change them when I want. We have good access in the UK, to both airspace and waypoints, which are updated regularly. Even the glider polar needs to be copied and pasted, because I use my own, not one built in. Similarly, I use a modified cup file. As downloaded, the first field is the waypoint name, so LK8000 will display the name or an abbreviation of it, but in the UK we more often use BGA published Trigraphs (CAMPHILL trigraph is CPH). So I change the format to make the trigraph the first field, which is then what is displayed on the map. So, even if the use of external installers is widened, please do not make it the only way to put data files in, leave the ability to copy and paste. I do not use a smartphone, I just use one that makes telephone calls, so I have tried LK8000 on my wife's old phone. It works just like any ot5her so far, but possibly because I am not so familiar with the Android OS, I have found I get slightly unexpected results sometimes with screen touches and swipes. |
