Hello,
I would like to know if you (still) intend to provide lk8000 for Android systems. In case of yes: When would it probably be available?

Best and thank's for reply
Kai

Our roadmap had as primary goal to bring LK to linux platforms first.
This goal is now accomplished successfully, and Raspberry PI is soon supported too.
Building decent hardware is now very easy, LCD screen being the only constraint.
Since a couple of months Bruno has adopted also OpenGL support, which is meaningful for also android.
The new LK is supporting now automatically any screen resolution, with perfect look, not to mention custom font sizes.
This said, I let Bruno answer to your question.
For what I am concerned (user interface being my primary concern) I can say that to make a neat work we should adopt a new configuration approach, not touching anything else. But that's not flight-related, it is "hangarware", so maybe it is not really important.
Probably it is not immediate for everybody that the new 6.0 is really internally different, but since it is now a matter of a few days to see the first official beta we shall see if expectations are fullfilled.

p.s.
In the past, "portrait" mode has been considered the second choice for look and feel. No more. 6.0 has a portrait mode redesigned, which is also required for naturally oriented smartphones. That was a long, very long work, too.

Pleased to hear about portrait mode, it's what I always use. Apart from anything else, it looks better when using split map screen.

What is the progress for LK on the Raspberry Pi linux platform?

There is now a standard 7"touch display which is spec'd at 250 nits, however I am sure that this could easily be increased by changing a resistor in the PWM driver circuit - at a penalty of decreasing the display life, but we don't need 20k hours!

Would be interesting to be able to run LK8000 on a Yotaphone (Android)

Some discussion of this device at the xcsoar forum:

My Yotaphone 2 has arrived.
Not a top rank android but it is cheap
It lacks any kind of barometer, but has everything else including more than enough battery life for a whole day of flying.
Ah! It also lacks LK8000.
But I will be using it next season (UK).
Hope there is a beta in time.

hi!
in my opinion the future of LK is android because, at the moment, if you want to usa a nice hardware device you can not have interesting and cheap choices that works great with sun. Of course now the developers and Paolo are concentrate to kobo, but for me it's not and interesting solution for the future. Very big, no sound and no colours, and for me they are quite important in LK. the step towards Android, which seemed easy and immediate, was not done; I don't understand why ....
At the moment if my V2 were to leave :-( I would not know what to buy.... and like me many other people.
this is just a thinking about opinion that I want to share with those who decide the development. think about it, the PEOPLE want, Trump and ANDROID .... :-))))

ciao.

If my V2 failed, it would have to be an Oudie, as V3 seems to have gone very quiet. I agree about Kobo lack of colour and sound, but it is very readable.

Why, it's very simple, we work for free, personally, the development of LK8000 is a hobby, not a job, it makes a huge difference

How about this new product: http://www.4dsystems.com.au/product/Armadillo_70T/?utm_source=4D+Systems&utm_campaign=198cc26e5e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2016_11_08&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_0866ea8c7a-198cc26e5e-224516289 this has 450 nits brightness, it has all the I/O you need (2 serial ports, USB, etc etc). I may get one to test, then simply print a box to put it in using the bezel from 4D, wire up some connectors and an RS232 converter and you are done. This works out at less than 50% of the price of a V2/3 or an Oudi!
