http://www.bware.it/LK8000/LK8000-310H-UPGRADE.ZIP

There are two interesting thing to try in this version:
- New markers in pan mode
- New LKRUN.EXE shell

The new markers in pan mode allow you to easily choose a point on the map as a waypoint, and then use it to include it in the running task, or as an alternate destination.
The procedure is really easy:
1) Enter pan mode
2) position the cross where you want to go
Notice the additional informations concerning distante and bearing from you, now appearing on the map.

3) Press Location Marker button
The MK waypoint appears on the map (not at low zoom levels..)
4) Press Nearest Waypoint button
5) Choose the action

If you insert the waypoint MK.. in the task, it will be saved for the next time also.

I let you experiment..

The second thing is a tool for PNAs, an external program called LKRUN.exe, never more without it!

For the next two weeks development will be around another Ully's magic thing, concerning airspaces. We must work some time on a new interface, but I can tell you even this time we are marking a watershed.

Finally, OLC has approved our own digital signature for IGC logs, thanks to the help of LX Navigation. We plan to migrate to new keys in a month or two, max. Thanks OLC and thanks LX.

OH, the bestalternate search was fixed!

Enjoy this nice version!

LK8000 VERSION 3.1h 120906
==========================

NEW

. New location marking in PAN mode, and fix small problems on pan mode display overlay.
In PAN mode, both in SIM and in FLY mode, near to the zoom scale indicator are painted :
- latitude/longitude/altitude
- distance to current position, bearing to current position
This will give the pilot more informations about the pan position he is using.
A new button is available in pan mode: location marker.
It is the same "location marker" available to create a marker while flying,
but in this case it will create the marker in the cross center pa n position.
The marker is then available for selection as a waypoint, can be inserted in a task as
an intermediate waypoint, can be used as an alternate destination, etc.
The marker altitude in this case is set to the same altitude of the aircraft at the time of marker creation.
(A new DEFAULT_MENU.TXT must be updated in _SYSTEM)

. Support for the new LKRUN v1.0 PNA shell
LKRUN.EXE is an executable inside LK8000 folder, in the same place of LK8000-PNA.EXE.
Running LKRUN.EXE will make LK8000-PNA.EXE run as well.
Upon exit, LK will restart automatically.
If you Exit from the startup screen, you exit LKRUN and the loop is over.
In case of software crash, LK will be restarted automatically for max. 10 times.

. Save "Toggle WndRose" state at Shutdown and Load at Startup....

CHANGES

. Allow saving a task that is using virtual waypoints. This is needed because it is now possible
to insert a virtual waypoint during the flight in pan mode.

. Allow Find NearestWaypoint button to select also markers.
Only valid markers of course.
So it is possible to pan, create a virtual waypoint, and select it for a goto.

. Accelerate terrain drawing a bit, 10ms gain on a 400mhz cpu

FIXES

. Fix bug in search of bestalternate, not using outlandings when an airport nearby had a positive arrival altitude, ignoring the glide ratio and safety margins.

. Fix possible startup bug that on some systems may crash LK (only on startup!).

. Fix bug not loading FlarmId in a random condition.

. Fix bug not setting Home waypoint for paragliders in SIM mode.
This was happening only in SIM mode when the paraglider was not flying, and on ground.

. Fix bug in 3.1g odometer calculated only for car mode..

. Fix small bug drawing airspace labels, when using black background color we were using
also black outline color, resulting in a blurred text effect.
This was happening only when using configuration interface setting as "unboxed" for text.

. Fix 3.1g glitch accepting track bearing changes for fly mode even with impossibly low speed

. Fix bug in Flarm Radar not drawing circles scaled correctly when using nautical or statute units.

Excellent work, it was a request of mine for pan mode and you have done a great job, now adding waypoints to a task to help avoid en route airspace is simple, thank you.

And congrats on OLC, we're asking UK XC league if they are now happy to include LK8000 files for flight validation.

And you can tell them that is a FAI/CIVL approved software: http://wxc.fai.org/module.php?id=10&date=20081130&l=en

The UK XC league specifically does not allow open source IGC, I think that's always been the crux of it here.

Yeah!.. I tried it in simulator on my PC yesterday, The PAN-marker function is really nice for long leisure XC flights.

But I do not understand the OLC thing, what does it mean for applying LK8000 IGC logs to the OLC? Right now, flights are accepted for OLC (Blue V dot = OLC Valid) and flights are scored (green S Dot), so for scoring and competing in the OLC I do not think it will make much of a difference.. or do I miss something?

Looking forward to the new Interface! and whatever you mean with 'watershed' changes.. :)

Marco, we have been using so far the xcsoar validation key. Only recently we have been given our own XLK code, so it will replace XCS code.

Enders, there are good news. The new LK G record validation allows pilots to add custom validation schemes for their contests, by adding a simple executable file inside _SYSTEM folder, without the key going in public, so please alert UK XC that we now want to apply.

The same goes for all other contests.
We are now trying to get back to Stein Sorensen as well.

Oh, I see, thanks for clearing that up, so the unwinding from XCsoar continues! :)

Hello,

when an airspace has a floor (or "Base") 'Above Ground Level' "Clip" function does not work so good

In "clipped" display, it appears when when you setup an altitude over 2600m, which is the "Top",
but when you setup an altitude between Base and Top, it does nor appear any more...
The problem is perhaps that the base is "AGL" Above Groun Level.
You could consider the ground level, but you can consider it AMSL....

The file is :

** TMA SAINT YAN Partie 1 (14 APR 2005) **
** Low Limit 5000F AMSL within limits of TMA 1.1 Roanne, 1.2 Paray et 1.3 Moulins **
