The 0.33 log by mazuk is OK, but only tested on ground! We need to test in flight, at high speed and changing altitudes. Otherwise the test is not valid. |

I understand to frustration....really. what I do not understand is generalization.... and different approach in emails and on public. ...
Speaking of emails, Wolf... Did You receive my past few emails from last two weeks? I have no response from You and I am wondering that maybe I ended up in Your spam box...

Hello Holux users,
I totally agree with Cool: yesterday I had a ride on my motorbike and the gps on. I did a lot of "round about" but the track log was terrible, maybe because I was in town. We absolutely need a test in the glider.
I try to be optimistic: but it's not easy.

Today, August 1st, I've made a testflight with v0.33 (WAAS-Egnos enabled) 61CS stand-alone and GT-altimeter connected. Sadly, I don't have a second GPS for comparison. The track seem to be normal, no gaps and square turns like I experienced with v0.49.
Maybe that my trackproblems were caused by the bug in the LK8EX1 device that has been fixed in v3.0d. This version is running on my 61CS since today. I'll check this again on Friday with v0.49.
Replaced pictures for quality reasons please see next page for track v049 July 29, track v033 August 1 and track v049 August 3

Please send me the IGC log of 0.33 so I can better check. The GT altimeter is not sending the gps fix, so the problem is not related.
It is easy to spot the problem in flight with LK, because the gps ground speed will be very wrong during thermalling, and while exiting a thermal. This is the first thing you can notice. Then wind calculation will be strange, if at all available. The ground speed is not calculated: if you read for example 33kmh and there is no strong wind, you bet you have a problem because the gps is going crazy.
I normally would spot the problem by looking at the trace, and 0.33 has those nasty bad symptoms.

Hello 12Fly,
From what is possible to spot on the pics you posted the 0.33 still has the track smoothing on: it's quite evident; Paolo diagnosys (red circles) is so clear. Unfortunately.
I begin to be pessimistic. |

another bad news. I recoded this flight yesterday
Blue -> 61cs version 037 Red -> Funtrek 130
This is a PARAGLIDING recoded flight so low speed! During the flight I checked frequently the number of Sat and most of the time 10

Mazuk what is the serial number, or system info, or anything we can provide to Holux to spot the problem? It seems like the gps manufacturer delivered faulty chips to them! |

12fly, you are Nico right? used to be Rotor.. what happend with Rotor? :)
On topic. I just read that Dave Salmon has now also track problems with his oldfashioned Ipaq-Bt GPS setup, which used to work just fine for many years.. Just to rule out any posibility that it might be LK8000 itself after all.. anybody tried the Holux 61CS using Seeyou Mobile or Winpilot?
What is also strange is that it works fine for a short while and then starts to get quirky. (12fly version 0.49 track)
I hope for everybody this can be worked out, because it would be a real bummer if this Holux 61CS has the same issue as the Vertica V1, with its internal GPS. |

Marco,
can't seethat it is the LK8000. I had my Funtrek 130 also running with LK8000 on as reference and don't see any problems with track smoothing. On the other hand I have to say that the smoothing problem is not a big issue with paraglider. I compared the calculated wind or thermal orbiter with the Funtrek and I couln't see a big diffrent in the calculation. Wind speed or thermal center almost the same on both.
Ciao Mazuk |

@marco Yep, that's me (instead of recovering the password I made a new profile - why do it easy if you can do it the hard way )
I thought it was GT-altimeter related (bug in LK8EX1 device) but Coolwind told me it wasn't. I've made another flight with v049 but the same sudden quick changes in direction remain. I'm running out of options and therefore I've decided to return the 61CS . |

I have examined the 0.49 track, made with over 40kmh wind!, and honestly I cannot spot problems there. For me the 0.49 track is ok, but to be sure we need two recordings in parallel. So let's be careful and not panic. |
