Hi,
since there was no happy end with my Navigon device (freezes all the time), I decided to buy a Mio Moove M400. As far as was able to test it it works fine.
Now I also would like to be able to receive data from LX20/FLARM/LX5000. I have two converter cables at hand but so far was not able to receive data. The first one is a homemade solution which a friend (with better soldering skills than me) built originally for the Navigon device (according to http://www.lsc-kitzingen.de/Schaltplan-Pegelverstaerker-fuer-PNAs_Blog_172_kkdetail_view_blog.html?view_blog_vt=lk8000) Since I had no luck with this one (and it was never proven that this cable is assembled correctly), I borrowed a converter cable from another friend that originally came shipping with his Naviter Oudie. But this one seems not to work either.
According to http://www.lsc-kitzingen.de/Schaltplan-Pegelverstaerker-fuer-PNAs_Blog_172_kkdetail_view_blog.html?view_blog_vt=lk8000 one has to put 3.3V on pin 4 to enable the serial mode on Sirfstar chipsets. The Oudie is mentioned there as well. So IŽd expect the Oudie-converter-cable to work also on the Mio400. Has anyone ever tried this combination?
Is there anything else I have to consider? Do I have to modify something within WinCE to get the ports going? There are 3 COM ports listed, so I think I should be fine...
Any ideas appreciated! |

| The MIO400 requires a different pinout in the miniusb connector, from Naviter's Oudie. Oudie is using the "Waiteq" setup in GliderTools cable. If you have a glidertools cable simply change the jumper setting and it will work perfectly. |

Thanks for the tip. After changing the pin assignment it works like a charm :) Merely 2 years after starting the project with lk8000 on the navigon. Well, next time IŽd probably go for a ready-to-use converter ;) Only one additional tip, the LX20-2000 NMEA output seems to be on 4800 baud even if the PC-connection speed is set to 19200 baud.
By the way, coolwind, IŽd have a feature request. It would be neat if one could put LK8000 into a "discovery mode" in which it automatically scans all possible combinations of com-port, baud-rate and protocol. |
