I submitted a request for a new Map area in California using the template.
I was wondering what the response time would be and if there is a way we can create the DEM and LKM files ourself to reduce the Map-Master's burden.
I was also going to create an XCSoar .xcm as backup just in case, which does have a DIY interface for creating your custom maps.
I have my yearly Minden motorglider fly-in again and am leaving next thursday and wanted to load a single custom map instead of having to switch during the flight between the two maps I have now.
Perhaps future versions might allow multiple maps to be configured?
I do like the v300 better since the last one I had was v120e.

i personally take care of maps, and create them once a week, if needed. we get few requests per month, having almost 450 maps already made ready for download.
So i appreciate when i get templates the idea that the map, or the maps, will be reusable by other users.
this means: the burden to create maps is the same for 1 map or for 10 maps or even 20 maps.
I must dedicate some time to check templates (people normally, normally!, misconfuse lat and long!).
To enlarge maps in case they are too small, a pity.
Maps in 2010 had to be in the range of 1100km and about 5M max, but now in 2012 with v3.0 we can grow up to 8M and thus have 1500km maps, or even much more.
Normally the problem is to choose a good square map, and if in doubts better to split into more parts. Ideally, create a huge 1000m DEM map for huge territory, and also 500m and 250m maps for smaller. I dont charge for maps! I appreciate templates thought for other people as well. This is the basic idea beyond having a "map service" instead of interactive server which requires a lot of attention.
for the future: yes, it is in the queue to have multiple maps or automatic map selection.
everything should be around the concept of simplicity.

thanks for new map (to me) ITA_NORD_250.Ifound there isn't "lago di santa croce",close to Belluno which is present in map ITA_DOLOMITI_250. Compliments for your incredible work :D |

Get ITA XNORD and you have extended water areas.
I have regenerated today also RIETI area, with extended water. |

The Parowan, Utah, USA terrain map does not seem to work. I requested a new map, covering a larger (maximum) area around Parowan a few days ago.
We are having a camp at Parowan this week.
We would appreciate if we could get the new map.

OK but I just tested the 500m DEM Parowan and it works fine here. I can see the terrain no problems.

Now in Brazil LK8000 became a fever. But we do not have maps of some regions.
I made a request map. But there was no answer.

Got it, but back home only on sunday!! I am on slow gprs connection, cannot upload maps at 50kbps..
It is always a good idea to plan for a country map set, instead of requesting only one map at a time.
Look at germany, italy, france, US for example, and plan a territory cover which is good for many people.
Do not submit only small map requests..
