Wind calculation made by external instruments requires configuration! ---------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are using an external instrument such as a Zander, an LX, an Ilec or any other instrument that can provide wind calculation, then you need to configure LK to use this information. You can do it permanently inside configuration, menu 5, Auto Wind should be set to "external". Or/And you can do it during the flight, Menu, Config, Setup Wind, Auto wind set to external. When using external wind, no calculation is performed while circling. If for any reason you want to disable external wind during the flight, simply enter Setup Wind menu and change the setting.
If the Auto wind is not configured to "external", the wind calculated externally will be IGNORED.
LK8000 VERSION 3.1c 120428 ==========================
NEW
. Flight Data Recorder, for flight engineers. See separated docs.
. Configuration for using wind precalculated by external instrument In config menu 5 (Glide Computer) Auto Wind can also be "External" In basic wind setup , the same.

| Thank you for the continued efforts on LK8000. It seems there are problems with the server used for file downloads...currently not working. |

Practising with 3.1C tonight. As pereparation for my first competition next week :)
I wanted to try the vector landable icons.. But in system menu 11, Landable Icon, I only have the choice between Alternate and Winpilot..there is no Vector.
Note that I use Netherlands as language, dont know if that has something to do with it.
I use Seeyou CUP files as waypoint files.
I also do not know if this was also in 3.1B, simply because I did not try this in the previous version(s)
Not really a big issue for me, but it would have been nice if it worked.
EDIT: In stead of Alternate I choose Winpilot, just to see what happend, and now it seems the vector landables do work as advertised :) I see dark grey runways and white runways and radio frequency printed beside the icons.. but this is very very small, I doubt if I can read that in a bright shaky cockpit.
Thanks anyways for all the improvements that have been made.. AAT function is now very useable!

The 3.1x are beta versions which are not translated. Winpilot is equivalent to Vector in this case, you can translate it your own in the NED_MSG.txt !!! We do not recomend to use beta versions for competitions !!! |

Ok, thanks Alphalima.
I allready had a hunch it should be something with the language package.
I asked last week if 3.1B was fit to fly, and there I got the confirmation it is ok to fly with that version, I take that answer also applicable for this 3.1C, as there isnt much changed.
I allready tried 3.1B last week on my aircraft on the ground and also there everything seems to work fine, bt connection with Flarm is working great.
BTW, if LK8000 quits during flight.. I still have my paper map and beeping vario with me :), and I allways have my good old Garmin Pilot III as a backup, which has required efficiency and current effeciency values side by side on the display.. used that for years as a rough final glide computer :)
So I am prepared, I will not take these windows gadgets for granted.. They do and they will quit on you at the most unwanted times.. But so far, LK8000 has not failed on me once (..knock on wood) |

Oh, that is nice! Maybe better to use that one? But then I will miss the vector landable icons, right?

The basic difference between a stable and a beta version, like 3.1c for example, is that these 3.1 versions have many more additional internal checks that in case of failure will report the anomaly, and exit (with your confirmation) the program. In the case of a stable version, these checks are not performed, assuming no need to do it, and if a failure happens it might ot might not be noticeble. So these 3.1 are also a little slower, not much though, do to these extra checks. |

I have "flown" a 3 hour flight in simulator mode, without any problems.. But it's quite a bit slower, menu's do not pop up immediately, and response to clicks is a bit slower as well.. for this reason I will revert back to 3.0C as soon as it becomes available.
If so, do I have to do a complete reinstall, or will an upgrade over 3.1C be sufficient? (I would not like to loose my settings and profiles I have made)
Thanks. |

I am not sure, but some parameters are reset in profiles for 3.1. So you better check. The user experience in terms of speed between 3.0 and 3.1 is the same, you cannot notice the speed difference, otherwise we wouldnt deliver a 3.1 to fly with. |
