Since my current HTC HD2 gets a littlebit out of date I am thinking about getting this HTC One X phone, maybe next year, and by then I hope LK8000 will run smoothly on Android as well.

It is an impressive smartphone, of course i would not buy it only because I want to run it with LK8000. In case you want a dedicated device for LK8000 I would shop for something like the V1.. But I like the integration of internet, navigation and mobile phone and all the apps of android, in one device.. Therefore it would be great if I can use it in my glider as well. The 4.7 inch Super LCD 2 Display seems to be quite good in sunlight as this small Youtube clip shows:

The front facing camera could be a nice add on to make inflight video's :) I have seen some examples on youtube, but the videoquality is also amazing (720P front, 1080P back).

I am sure that if you can waste over 550 euro for an all-in-one smartphone that in 12 months will just be obsoleted, you can also spend 250 euro and get a dedicated device for flight, which will be still perfectly usable in 5 years.

My thinking is perhaps the reverse of this. I will be getting a similar smart phone regardless of my primary navigation GPS. It would just be so useful if my smart phone could also be used as a LK8000 backup unit.

That is why I will wait till next year, and maybe even longer :) Then this phone will be available for about half the price. And when the screen is really good, why not!?

My HTC HD2 works fine for me at the moment..and would be perfectly useable in 5 years time as well, just like you say..so I am in no hurry at all. None the less, it is always good to look ahead.

I bought the HD2 last year for about 225 euro's, refurbished, including a 16Gb microsd card.. New, this HD2 was allso more then 500 euro's when it came out in 2009, with inflation in mind even more expensive then the One X right now.

Of course I also could buy a dedicated unit for that money, but why should I when I can get the same plus a lot more for about the same price and will use almost 24/7?.. I think that is worth the extra money.

Oh and I tend to use my mobiles quite long, my Nokia 6021 before the HD2 I have used for 7 years! :)
