In the next release version we will have new scaleable airfield and outlanding icons with runway direction and type (grey = solid, white = grass).

| I hope this function can be turned off. In the mountains it will be very handy but in flatland you cover a really big part of the map. |

This is a false assumption, Rick. The vector graphics is in fact reducing the size of the icons at low zoom levels. In the picture above, with old style bitmaps, the maps would be covered of landfields.
Of course this is a configurable option, we are simply replacing the old "winpilot" bitmaps style.
After some possible adjustments and some performance tests, this is probably going to become the default style

| Where does the information come from? Do we add them individually? I know .cup files have the facility for this information, the .dat does not, and as far as I know, in the UK, it is not included in the BGA waypoint files. Many of us use a program called TPSelect, which will produce a waypoint file in almost all formats, including .cup from the full BGA list, but if the information is not there in the first place, it can't add it. |

As usual the software depends on the data that you pass on to it. Since this is free software we can't buy licenses for commercial datasets. Each pilot is responsible for his files and if there is no such data for the UK then you either have to create it or live without it. There is the WELT2000 project (http://www.segelflug.de/vereine/welt2000/) for example that tries to keep an updated database of airports, outlanding field and waypoint of the whole world, but just like LK8000 it is a community project and it depends on people that help with gathering data. Unfortunatly the website is only available on german right now, but they are working on that afaik.

I like it. I currently include the "runway" orientation in the name of each of my outlanding waypoints (e.g., NW13F has a northwest "runway"). Now I can free up a little screen space by removing runway orientation codes from my waypoint names. Cool.

Hello guys,
is there a way to activate this function into the the new 3.1a? because, into my cup files, the runway direction is correctly declared, but i do not have those icons for landing aera. |

New airfield symbols since V3.1x With the Version 3.1x we introduced new airfield symbols. In order to enable it goto System Setup Page 11 and set the Appearance style from Alternate to Vector The vector airfield symbols have new scalable airfield and outlanding icons with runway direction and type (dark grey = solid, white = grass).
The runway length is drawn proportional to the real length.
If an airfield is defined as glider site, it will be marked with "white wings"
On an appropriate zoom level the radio frequency will be shown as well.
Like before if the runway is reachable with respect to the safety height and wind, the airfield/outlanding is green, otherwise red. In order to use this additional information's it must be included in the waypointfile of course. We recommend to use the *.cup file format of SeeYou which is able to support this additional information. If you don't have the additional information's we recommend to use the old Alternate symbols.

Hi Folks!
Nice Feature. But if zoomed in, the Frequency appears directly in the red circle in tiny black Letters. Wouldn't it be better, if it shows up directly under the Name of the Aerodrome in Letters of almost the same size and (perhaps also) colour?
Kind Regards HPD (D-MHPD) |

Great it works !!
What does that mean when you have a square as an icon? FOr radio frequency, i guess it can be plot up to 2km Zoom, like the 3.5 or 5km :) Nevertheless, it's a great feature :) Thanks a lot ;)

Thanks for the positive feedback, if the icon is square there is no runway information for an outlanding. I'm aware of the frequency visibility, we're still working on a better solution, but I wanted to release the new icons first. |

| In the earlier versions where do you find the radio frequencies? I don't see it in my waypoint details info. I am using CUP files. |

You see it, but you don't recognize it, it is in the headline! (in this case 118,450)
