I received GT altimeter one week ago, if I remember it well....and my electronics specialist work on this issue. It looks, that there is some diferent kind of protocol, but I think, that this problem will be sold.... very quickly ;-)
I will informed everybody, whom is concerned.... here ;-) and immediately.

In the above topics there are also pictures of teh FT130 with backlight off.
Is it the same display as the 61CS?

Well, then it should be possible to disable backlight in full sunlight.
The pictures of the FT130 with no backlight are very bright.
It reminds me of my old IPAQ with the reflective display: the best I found so far with regards to visibility in full sunlight.
Any results on battery duration with backlighting completely OFF?

Several hours, but you cannot switch backlight off, the screen is not the same as in FT130, and unless you really have full sunlight on the back, perpendicular, it will not be readable. Casio Blanview is a special LCD, search for it on the internet.

I searched on internet, but didn't find much information, mainly old stuff when Blanview was being announced to the market.

Regarding the FT130 and 61CS now I am confused: is the display same technology or not? Wolf states so, while Cool says the opposite ...

Blanview .... same link as above, but page 13 .... post from Paolo: http://www.ortustech.co.jp/english/technology/#ctg3

I did not see any problem there.... technology is same, Balnview... but due different display sizes both ones could looks different. a little bit. ;-)
Blanview was mentioned in Holux specifications, I did not open them yet.

Hi Berto,
here are measures results in different modes and with different backlight levels, as followed.

Mode "Suspend": 4mA
"Boot" mode: 370mA
Back Light Control:
Off 190mA
1 210mA
2 230mA
3 250mA
4 270mA
5 300mA
6 310mA
7 330mA
8 360mA
9 370mA
10 400mA

Current fluctuate +/- 15% in accordance of whatever is displayed, white color is the worst, certainly.
Measurement done on external supply source, instead if original 1050 mAh accu, with mean voltage 4,1 V.

Sorry for delay, but I was out of web connection from Thursday till today.

Hi Enrico,
here are my answers:

1. Holux GPSmile61CS first delivery will be dispatched from manufacturer this Friday. Air transtport takes around 5 days. Then I will handle with orders placed since and newcoming ones.

2. There is any mount, suction cup included. Original cradle have holes for fixing by screw directly to instrument board, as well as to platform, used on screw fixed and suction cup stands, used in cars. I expect to offer wide variety of stands, screw/suction cups included, as optional accessories.

3. Price is =248,00 EUR, (20% VAT included, shipping excluded), total price will depend on accessories, ordered optionally. Shipping cost to Italy should be =19,00 EUR / 1 pc. ; other countries with different costs, depending on mail rules in those particular countries.

OK, thanks.

Please, let us know when YOU have the gps units in your hands;
+ please give us a suction cup to mount the gps on the canopy, since not all of us own a private glider, but use aeroclub ones.

I know about this problem from Czech sailplanes pilots, therefore both versions will be available.....
