I just got the Vertica V1 and I wanted to compare it with my HP310 and Dell Streak 5 (Android). Today It's really dark outside, so I took one picture inside just to compare, and I have to tell that V1 almost bright my hole apartment! :)

My next step is to get the GT Vario.

First of all, the package:

The V1 boot screen (really nice!):

And now the V1 vs. Dell Streak vs. HP310 (all devices in Full Brightness):

As you can see the V1, it's much better, it really put HP310 miles away! And Dell Streak doesn't look so great beside the V1.

Now I'm just waiting to get a really sunny day to test these 3 devices side by side.

I really had a good impression about V1 as soon I got it in my hands, really light device if we take in count the size of it (5" screen). When I turn it on for the very first time, I though I got blind because of the bright color of the screen.

I played a little bit with it, trying to understand the menu, and how customize it can be. I would like to change the GPS icon but until now I had no luck and it's not a big deal! The favorites menu it's really handy, you can create a shortcut to the Rotate program. I will try to give you some hints about V1 but now I need to play more with it. :)

I ask a friend of mine to compare the logs of V1 with other devices, as soon he gets the V1 he will compare with B1 Nav and Garmin 76cs.

I will post the results here.

My next step is to try to change the default menu with MioPocket :)

I took some pictures in the morning from my balcony. And I have to tell that V1 and Dell Streak 5 are good at direct sunlight! Yes, Dell Streak it's good at Direct Sunlight!!! Dell Streak seems to be darker but that happens even indoor!

It looks very dark to me, this Dell Streak of yours.
There are the first side-by-side pictures, and I notice that this Streak is quite big, and not this bright as the V1 (and the 61 which I am testing as well, since I compare it to the V1). However, more pictures are needed for an exact idea.

I wait this comparison with much interest.
I have never found anything better in direct sunlight than my old IPAQ 3670 which has a reflective display like the 61cs.
On the other hand the V1 seems very good, so i would like to compare the two to know what's better.
Also personal experience is important as I found that often the pictures
don't give the correct perception, so please be sure to also include your comments.

Holux vs V1 is day vs night.
Reflective display is unbeatable in direct sunlight.
Now if only I could be confident that the 61CS has the same readability of the FT130 ... anyone has got any pictures side by side?

I can compare it on a real flight If Wolf send me a sample to test :D

Berto, in fact the V1 doesn't look great on the picture but I could see it perfectly and was the only I could use with my gloves.

I have made comparation tests with gloves on FT 130 and 61 CS.... (not in flight - to be honest). You can manage LK8000 on both. The only different is comfort on large screen, if you used gloves without any stylus. I have some technical solution with very short stylus, 3-5 mm length, fixed safe on gloves fingertip ;-).
