[/quote] Wolf, thanks for answer, I can say Holux is different so I can understand paying extra price for extra features. But waiting for other dealers, maybe they want to say something more. I am not asking about dedicated aircraft devices which has to pass all certifications before you can put it inside Boeing 777,or dedicated variometer for paragliders pilots where there are only thousands potential costumers. I'm asking about those PNAs (available for50-100$), with the same electronics inside, the same pcb boards, same enclosures. There is no higher grade electronics for sure, difference between higher capacity battery is about 1-2$, there is also no extra features dedicated for pilots. It is still same old car navigation. And the only difference I see is higher brightness LCD,probably just higher brightness LED strip in backlight for few times higher price. And market, there is no special market in that case.
But maybe there is something I'm missing.

| Hi Jarek - it is not only a case of a brighter screen but a different LCD screen and coating. Cheaper PNA/PDA's don't really compare that well in real use to what is becoming available now. |

Price difference should be the one of the screen. I believe the current price of 5'' transflective screen to be under 50€ (and should decrease as technology is more widely addopted). So basic transflective PNA has no clear reason to be 25-50€ more expensive than basic non transflective PNAs... |

I am disagree. Transreflective screens technology not become used widely in last three - four years, when I am focused on this particular products. For larger display sizes especially.
PNA with transreflective display are used for "rugged PNA" almost, e.g. barcodes readers, GIS and hi-resolution GPS units (various field measurements - geological, etc.). These kinds of units are manufactured with very suitable features for flying (good GPS chipset, CPU, internal memory, transreflective displays, etc.), as well as shock proof (free fall test from 1,20 m height to concrete floor - if I remember it well), but their display is 3,5" maximally.... and wholesaler purchasing price is not lower than 350 USD :-/
I am quite sceptical about hardware used for Android installations, too, where manufacturers haven't any interest and reason to think about something, like as transreflective screens, production not to mention....
We have to take in consideration, that flying is minority..... from mass production point of view and therefore low prices will be quite rare....

I'm not sure but I think it is COM4: But you can check it with the following tool: LK8000\_System\_CEUtilities\GPSScan.exe |

OK, thanks a lot. Lawrence aconfirmed me that the correct on is COM1 / 38400 / 8bit / Mode: Normal / Checksum: Enabled, as brunotl wrote (thx!).
Now the further question is: does anybody know HOW it is possible to put on V1 desktop the link to another application (.exe)?

I will be doing a group buy of a PNA with 950 nit resolution if anyone is interested. The cost is $245. I can ship International for $20 extra. Same specs as the V1 but with higher nit resolution. If interested please PM me. |
