In next 2.3c version, a big code cleanup has started.
Some old functions have been removed, among them there are VirtualKeys and MapLock. VirtualKeys were now very confusing because the LK interface has dramatically changed since 2 years ago, when they were introduced.
MapLock has been replaced by a new screen locking approach recently.

But the big step will be the complete removal of old infobox (aka IBOX mode) system. LK has its own windowing system for the LK interface, and Iboxes are based on old windows CE code.
We are in the process of cleaning up as much as possible the old code base in the next months (phase 1), then do a code reorganization based on a cleaned, debugged, perfectly working codebase (phase 2) and finally porting to other operating system the resulting work.

In this code cleanup phase, there is no space to leave old unused or unwanted features, which we must get rid of.
The old IBOX mode was still used until the 2.0 version was delivered, which offered full LK portrait mode support.

So it may be disabled anytime now.

Maybe should be a good choise keep ibox for paragliders.

Iboxes still good for PocketPc like Ipaq h2200, this kind of pda have a good size for paragliding, but doesn´t have support to landscape mode. In this case the ibox can show eight informations or more if used with map superposition. The gps for cars are too big to use for paraglider and have a poor visibility in the sun.

Confirmed.
With new portrait mode I switched back to my old IPAQ3670 with no problem whatsoever.
LK8000 runs smooth with no delay in the cammands execution and page change is very quick.

The new LK 2.3c will have no IBOX mode . Executable's size is reduced by 10-15%.
There is a speed gain in user interface response (switching pages, bottombar etc is just faster).
Currently LK 2.3c is using only around 30-40% of available CPU on a (slow) MIO400, and will thus run fine also on ancient 200Mhz PPC still around.
This speed is considering thousands of waypoints loaded and calculated for distances, in parallel with airspaces and OLC scores.

2.3c is delayed a bit, I am sorry. There are still problems to solve and we have discovered a pending bug in 2.2 to solve.
