Hi,
It seems that LKMAPS have very good terrain data, but what about topology? It seems that topology data (at least our hungarian one) comes from the old xcsoar topology, which is very outdated now (at least here in hungary).
So I decided to refresh it a little bit, using QGIS and the freely available data from openstreetmap.org.
Now I'm trying to optimize the details in shapefiles to get fast loading and drawing times in LK.
Could anybody tell me what are the main aspects to do this?
Max/recommended number of items in shapefiles?
The attribute tables slow down the program?

Thank in advance,
Kalman

The XCSoar project has written a new map generator, which uses OSM data. I suggest you don't waste your time on manually extracting OSM into LK maps, but instead use our code:

It's too late now, I have done it already...
I'm trying to find a good compromise on map details vs. rendering time.

Topology items draws over terrain. Is there any possibility to set transparency level on map layers?

Not that I know. I tried alpha-blending but there are compatibility issues with old devices.
