Vladimir, It's working pretty well ;) But I have an recommendation to you. I found out that the Portait mode on M400 is really GOOD! and it saves space on my cockpit, was really nice if you put a button to rotate, maybe below the LK8000 icon, because if you put on the right side it wouldn't be available when you rotate.
Can you make a special edition to me to be used with iGO8 on the My Flash Disk\iGo8\iGo8.exe ? |

@TiGuy82 Yes, I read your post. I plan to add to menu button for setup of screen rotation for LK8000. :) And iGO8 - I will try it. |

hi,
version 0.2 of your unlook-toolset works pretty well.
my mio m400 came with the car-nav-software installed under navman, so i had to amend some path-definitions in the config files in verion 0.1. version 0.2 works fine out of the box ;-)
great job ... keep up the good work.
do you have any plans when your serial-cable with power-supply will be available???
cheers,
danny |

Thanks, Danny Fully assembled PCBs I get the following week. Everything depends on my suppliers. I'm still waiting of the boxes, USB cables and rubber grommets. I firmly believe that the first pieces will go on sale later this month. I will also have to find some time to compile a manual. Time, it is now the most expensive goods...

Thanks! I will try it on Monday, I'm out for the weekend :) Would be nice if you could put more icons on the screen, reducing the size of the icons. |

Hi , It's very easy to make your own welcome screen.
Edit welcome.ini in \Visual\Skin\Main folder,
for example: For LK8000 button you have
ICONXPBUTTON x = 25 #---> X, Y is the coordinate in pixel (0,0 is the upper left corner) y = 25 SizeNormal = 100 #---> Size of button SizePushed = 100 Command = \My Flash Disk\Visual\Scripts\Apps\LK8000.mscr IconNormal = ..\Icons\lk8000.ico IconPushed = ..\Icons\lk8000dn.ico Offset = 5
If you want to add button, just add the same text but change coordinate , icon and script.
Now you want battery level?.
Juste Add :
BATTERY x = 332 y = 233 Width = 80 Height = 28 ColorBattery = A0A0A0 ColorHigh = 00A000 ColorLow = A0A000 ColorCritical = A00000 Segments = 10
It's very easy.
Now, if you want more icons and ideas ,have a look here: http://projects.lanik.org/GPSProject_00.htm

Hi Vladimir,
My MIO400 arrived! I installed your unlock and everything works well, both LK8000 and MIO get the GPS satellites correctly. The only "noise": I didn't find the exit button in the mio menu, nor in the 2nd page nor in the other two pages... Not a big problem you can exit the MIO sw with the reset position of the power switch; but, if you can help me it would be great!
I wonder about how many time you can write a flash memory (I think at the LK8000 logger) if after a cerain number of writes the flash memory dies it turns out to be a big broblem on the MIO400 where you cannot replace the flash memory like a SD Card. Perhaps Paul could explain how to write the log in the main RAM memory.
greetings

LK8000 knows about the flash problem, but you don't have to worry too much. There is a life time limit for WRITING to the same position in the flash, not in all the flash. For this reason, RUNTIME log is not overwritten anymore, and it keeps growing up. Log files should be left there, or moved to another directory, but not deleted. This way, you will need to saturate 2G of memory before writing for the second time on the same location. Probably you will get some problems, this way, in the year 2042...

I didn't know of the problem in writing in the flash memory. If I knew I would have been more cautious in my trials to get the unlock working. For example, I deleted the entire LK8000 directory and copied it to another place a couple of times. How many times can you write to the same position in the flash? For the logs of LK8000, I usually don't use LK8000 as a logger, and for the runtime logs, is it possible to disable them? |

Berto, On the beginning of Flash Rom technology, rewrite limit was reported of the 5000 for one memory cell. Today is reportedly this limit much higher. In 1997 manufacturers claimed that the limit is 100,000 overwrites. In addition, flash file system is usually optimized in such a way as to overwrite the memory cell was only when no other free cells available. About 100 thousands.. Personally I don't even care at it. Just let the memory fill up instead of deleting files. You will need to fill it up for .. 100000 times maybe less.. The same problem is inside PDAs memory, by the way.. they are all flash memory. USB drives, the same. |

Dany,
I know that :) I made the Unlock for HP31x. But I prefer that Vladimir finish his great work. I was going to make a unlock for M400 but he told me that he was going to do it. I prefer to have many buttons on the screen because I use gloves and I wont be using a pen stylus.
A restart button would be nice on the screen. If something is not going stable. I will add iGo8 and MIO buttons |

100 thousands times! Whew, even using the MIO to log the flights or to load and watch movies I will be old before I write that many times in the flash. |
