BASIC UNLOCK DOWNLOAD: (Updated Sat, 30th October 2010, 23:00) http://store.glidertools.com/M400_LK8000_UNLOCK.ZIP
UPDATE TO v. 2.x DOWNLOAD: (Fri, 28 Jan 2011 00:09 UTC) http://store.glidertools.com/m400_lk8000_2.x.zip
Hello friends!
Today I release first final version of MIO400 unlock, designed for use with LK8000. Original MioMap navigation can continue to use unchanged.
Main unlock page:
Settings page:
Instalation: 1) Backup your original file \My Flash Disk\Program Files\MioMap\appstartupsec.ini 2) Expand unlock to the root of the flash drive. Unlock includes LK8000 version 1.22b. If you want to use another version, simply replace the files in a subdirectory LK8000
Some details: 1) To MioMap menu is added "exit" button (page 2 of menu). When using MioMap, you can press this button to exit MioMap, and return to the unlock main screen. 2) The brightness adjusting of the MioMap affects the entire device. I recommend, therefore, adjust the brightness in MioMap to the highest level for the best visibility LK8000 in direct light. 3) After installing this unlock, no longer will be automatically run "connect screen", when you connect the USB cable. This allows seamless on-board power supply your unit via any USB cable. If you want to connect your device to computer as MassStorage, click on the main screen to button USB first. This starts ConnectScreen, and you can then connect the USB cable. Sometimes that does not work, and the connection fails. When this happens, connect the USB cable first, then turn off the device into the reset position, wait a few seconds and then switch on again. 4)Serial port for connecting internal GPS unit is COM2, 9600 baud. To connect the logger or Flarm we use port COM1, but for that you will need a converter from RS232 to USB. http://www.glidertools.com/news/rs-232-o-usb-converter-with-12-5v-switching-power-supply/ Work on the production of the converter is already underway, but it takes a few days, I have to wait for the spare capacity in the SMD assembly machine. The contract is small, and not interesting for manufacturer.
BASIC UNLOCK DOWNLOAD: (Updated Sat, 30th October 2010, 23:00) http://store.glidertools.com/M400_LK8000_UNLOCK.ZIP
UPDATE TO v. 2.x DOWNLOAD: (Fri, 28 Jan 2011 00:09 UTC) http://store.glidertools.com/m400_lk8000_2.x.zip
Send me please your suggestions what could be improved.

Good job, Yes... , we can test transmission with Putty.Very good thing. Question: How is RS- 232 TTL Level for Mio 400, 3.3V or 5V ?(I think it's 3.3V like Oudie or HP314 ).
Thanks

I think that almost certainly yes. If it did not work, you can simply revert back to the original file appstartupsec.ini and delete this unlock. Unfortunately I have no possibility to verify this. R403 I do not have available. Vladimir |

Vladimir,
Thanks for your quick response. Before going ahead and using the tool, I have some questions:
1) Looking at the zip file, it looks like all the files will be installed under the following directory: M400_LK8000_UNLOCK. Correct? 2) If the tool doesn't work, reverting back to the previous state will entail to restore the appstartupsec.ini file and deleting everything under M400_LK8000_UNLOCK. Correct? 3) In my device, appstartupsec.ini is under Mio Device (E:)\Program Files\Navman. In your Readme file you indicate that it should be under \My Flash Disk\Program Files\MioMap\. Is this a problem? 4) I noticed in the zip file that there are a lot of icons for European countries. I live in the US and my MIO has US maps. Could this be a problem? 5) Where should I backup the appstartupsec.ini file? My PC?
Regards

Vladimir,
I can not seem to get your MIO 400-LK8000 unlock to unlock my MIO 400. I end up with the folder in the MIO and the MIO is working as before.
Would you please give those of us who are a bit challenged, step by step detailed instructions on how to get your offering to unlock?
Mike

Hello Friends! To Miguel: 1) No. Inside of "M400_LK8000_UNLOCK" directory you will find subdirectory "RootOfFlashDisk" and its contents you must copy to the root of flash drive. The directory structure of "My Flash Disk" just seems to be as follows:
\Application Data
\LK8000
\MioAutoRun
..some other directories...
\Program Files
\Visual
\Visual.auto
\Visual.ins
...
2) Yes 3)I think it would not be a problem. Replace the file appstartupsec.ini at that place, where on your type of MIO is located. If necessary, in the subdirectory "Visual" fix in the ini file "visual.ini" in [MIO] section path to the "Mioap.exe" and MioMap.ini according to your configuration. 4) Many parts of the package meantime is not yet used. They can stay there, do not affect anything 5) Yes, you can copy it to your PC. I do it by renaming, for example to appstartupsec.ini.original
To Mike: My mistake was that I put the files in zip into subdirectories. This caused the confusion. I must write a few sentences about this to the instruction file.
See readme.txt file on the zip package. |

Mike, It is possible that I forgot something ... Maybe my unit in a file that I forgot to pack. Tomorrow I will test this on the new device. Unlock downloaded more than 80 users, but I do not have any feedback .. V. |

Hi Vladimir
I too have had installation problems which I have not overcome. I suspect all the files are in the package, but much more detailed instructions are required on which of the files should be in what sub folder or in the root directory. Prehaps you could show some screen shots, or copy and paste all the directory structure into some text files.

A bit puzzled. When Paolo first recommended the M400, he said that Mio_Moov_Unlock would have you in within 30 secs. Vladimir's new file, Mio_LK8000_Unlock,is 10 times bigger 36.4 MB as opposed to 363 KB. I have downloaded both, (and the download time certainly reflected the sizes) because, although I haven't got an M 400 (yet) several friends are buying them, and I have been asked to install LK on them. So, which do I use? Dave |

I confess I still do prefer the small simple Mio Moov Unlock. It simply gives you a windows CE desktop. The problem is that there are no icons on this desktop to run LK8000, you have to create them. For MIO 500 device, you also need to put on the desktop an OFF icon , for switching off because the hardware slide won't work correctly.
It is possible to setup a Mio moov unlock Special Edition for LK8000, taking care also of these icons.

Paul, i am waiting my M400, so can you customize the Mio Moov unlock with LK8000 icons, or just simply explain how to create them?
And what about the Unlock from Vladimir? What advantages does it hae over the Mio Moov unlock? |

I also use the simple unlock tool and created shortcuts on my desktop
you also can use a simple mortscript (.mscr) i use it like this
LK8000_portrait.mscr (simple texteditor file)
rotate(270) RunWait( "\My Flash Disk\LK8000\LK8000-PNA.exe" ) rotate(0)
So it rotates and i have the usb connection on the right side for me. After exit LK8000 it rotates back to landscape. |
