I propose a setting in menu to select variometer color! that's a solution for everybody likes!
One question: I see vario bar is shown in left side, there was a usefull diagram to show "expected" thermal updraft for every altitude and you can think about lift and expect climbing rates and know plafond too. What about that diagram?

In the 1.18 vario is configurable with colors, mono, and rainbow appearance. There are 32 "leds" (in the picture, all leds are up for demo: when you switch on the LK, for 10 seconds all leds are up too for no particular reason).

The blu thermal bar is still there, but only during a lift. I am not sure it works as you say. In 1.18 it is configurable ON or OFF.
Vario is no more under development and it will not be changed for some time.

Why not in right screen side? I suppose in XC flight it's a really important feature so I'd like to have it often on and I suppose right side is free (in XC flight)...
Btw, thank you for your job! |

In my opinion should be on the left side, close to the vario information (+x.xx m/s) |

It is on the left together with other instruments, optionally enabled. In 1.18 you can enable-disable almost everything on the map. But you cannot move gauges.

The visual vario display is avaliable for gliders as well as paraglides, but I dont think there are any plans for an audible vario. Havent you got an e-vario on board? |

and think about: its a GPS based vario with a significant time delay audio will not provide you really useful information listen what your a.. is telling you about the thermal velocity. |

Hi Condor, now I understand and I agree. The bar can be thinner but its height is probably related to the number of bricks. I ment when there are many bricks it can be useful to separate every few bricks with a thicker black line.
Can the bar only show the value the vario has? I mean when the vario hits +2 there is no need to show an empty bar below 0. Would it be nice to see the map here or would the vario not show up to clearly like this |

The space is indeed available to write a value, but it would be constantly jumping up and down creating confusion... Vario was designed for paragliders but available also for gliders. Paragliders have a vario value overlay, which gliders don't have. |

Hi all, a question to you; why vario bar isn't available in every maps? I have a portrait-mode only PDA and I noticed vario is present only in a map showing only few little infoboxes in display bottom. This particular display mode is reachable by pressing central button toward right (that key opened the "auxiliary display mode", before)
Why to not have it even i "normal" 4top+4bottom display modes? |

The only reason is time. LK is tuned for landscape mode. Portrait mode is supported but I can't create two versions of the same software. Portrait and landscape share the same functions.

ok, so 4top + 4bottom display mode is not discontinued but it will have no further improvements, I suppose.
So a display layout is XCSoar (4top + 4bottom) and the other one (showing vario one) is LK8000? But I can see overlayed data, not existing in XCSoar, shown in "XCSoar display" too!

Portrait mode in LK has the same features of landscape mode. Some of them don't look that good, because of different geometry of the screen. I only said I can't create a "special" version of LK for portrait mode. Supported resolution are: Portrait mode: 240x320 480x640
Landscape mode: 320x240 400x240 480x234 480x272 640x480 800x480
Any device with these resolutions will have the same functionalities. Suggested mode is landscape.
