Does anybody know how to generate a topography* map only?

I'm a paraglider pilot and In my case I don't use and I don't need the terrain map because I fly small distances compared to the gliders pilots, for me the most important information are the names of the cities where I'm flying close to.

If I get a map without terrain, the file will be smaller and faster when It's being loaded on the startup.

It is very easy, Sergio.
Get an XCM file, rename to Zip. Open the ZIP, take off the terrain file, usually called .JP2 or .DAT , take off also spare files like airspaces or airfields that are embedded and unused, then recreate a zip file, and then rename it to XCM.

I would suggest to delete the waypoints file that inside of XCM. Most of these waypoints are useless to paragliders pilots.

Why? They cant take much of the space on your several GB SD Card.. If you select a waypoint file, these waypoints will not be read. Remember that some paraglider pilots use LK for several things, such as Condor, where these waypoints can be of great interrest. I use the paraglider profile also in condor, to have the same information on the screen as when i am pargliding.

Why? Because You will have a big list of waypoints! And will be harder to find one in flight. If you have a map for you whole country, as I do. Try to do it, and check how many waypoints you have it.

Removing waypoints won't remove the name of the cities, villages from the map.

I'm talking about "real" life.

Yes, but i actually checked this yesterday with a Condor xcm, which includes a lot of waypoints. These were only shown if i did not select a waypoint file in config screen 1. When i did select a waypoint file, none of the waypoints from the xcm was displayed. At least this is what happened on my system. Is it different on your system?

I'm talking about the Waypoint Lookup list (Nav > Waypoint Lookup). In my case give me a big list! After I remove the waypoint file from the XCM map file I only have the Take-Off waypoint.

I think we are talking about the same thing, but did you enter your own, personal waypoint file in configuration screen 1, or dont you use one? If you dont, i guess you can create an empty .dat, and select this in config. Then you should not see the waypoints from the xcm when you go to the Waypoint Lookup. Please try this!

I think that would be a better solution than changing the paraglider version..

You gave me a great idea! Create waypoint file with take-offs and landings of paragliding spots and put on my map file XCM! I found that paragliding earth has all the information I need: http://paraglidingearth.com/en-html/index.php?pays=177 , All Portugal sites in GoogleEarth! ;)

http://paraglidingearth.com/en-html/kml_files.php?country=177

I need to convert KML to .DAT using GPSBabel and put the correct information, about what is takeoff and what is landing.

And I will be releasing a map for Portugal and Spain with all spots! ;)

the waypoint file on the XCM has this name waypoints.xcw, I hope that is the same of .DAT and I only need to rename it to the XCW type

Does anybody know how to get an own airspace file into the XCM file?

I tried:

1. Rename XCM -> ZIP
2. unpack
3. delete Airspace.txt
4. insert new Airspace.txt (the file is working when I am using it as airspace1 (Config, Settings)
5. Zip again
6. Rename ZIP -> XCM

now restart LK. No airspace is show up,
replacing the waypoints with this scheme is working nicely.
