Posted - 20/05/2024 : 11:09:11 Hi all, in the gliding competition scene we have started to use circle sections as turnpoints. This complements the usual FAI sectors and beercans. A circle sector is defined by a starting degree (0 is north) and an ending degree (eb. 180 being south). Such a circle section would be a half circle starting at 12 o'clock and ending at 6 o'clock. Typically such turnpoints are used in AAT tasks, where the turnpoints are closer to each other than the beercan radius. Please reach out, if more information is needed. |

Posted - 18/06/2024 : 11:54:26 LK8000 is fully capable of handling the new turnpoints in a AAT task. It's done by selecting "Sector" as turn point type and then (when AAT is selected as task type) you get the possibility of defining the two radians in the circle section together with the radius. A big thank to Bruno. |

the procedures are described in Annex A to section 3 - Gliding from FAI: https://www.fai.org/sites/default/files/sc3a_2023.pdf The circle section (A geometric figure on the ground bounded by two lines of specified initial bearing from a Turn Point) option is described on page 32, paragraph 7.6.2 b.
If necessary I can also provide you with an actual task sheet from the Danish Nationals.
Best regards
