Hello there.
I bought a "Racing Pod" that has "AltAir" hardware embedded, in order to have telemetry from a pod into the cellphone and run LK8000 smooth.

Iīm trying to figure out what port name should I use in order to use the information sent by the hardware.

While messing with XCSOAR to figure out the correct port, Iīm getting "Baro, Airspeed" when using "digifly leonardo" port, but somehow even when I get some "terminal" feedback on LK8000, it seems that itīs not reading the info to be useful.

The hardware has pitot (airspeed) and barometric telemetry.

The NMEA sentences recorded by LK8000 are somehow as follows:

Any ideas if thereīs a way for implementing this protocol? or how can I make it work so LK8000 can use this telemetry?

The telemetry is working perfect on the developerīs own application under android (altair.no-ip.org)

Hello Bruno. Developer created a new output NMEA sentences that uses LK8EX1 and another line that uses PLKAS. So at the momment you need to set two devices, one with LK8EX1 driver and another one using generic driver that acts as as a "shared".
He still sends all his PRS sentences but they seem to be ignored by LK8000

Look up for AltAir Racing Pod if you are a hangglider pilot.

I'm curious, what is the change ?

No hair, thus no hair dryier :)

Still I made a nmea output while blowing.. You can see the speed changing alright.

Also the hardware has four configurable buttons that when pressed, send data to nmea, so iīm guessing one could configure also events for using "hard buttons" to change screens on lk. Still need to read about that on the forums, so I can try it out.

The nmea with the "speed readings" and with some button presses:

I just blow next to the pitot tube for 2 or 3 seconds. I get good readings on the original software (altair), and also i get speed readings on xcsoar.

The programmer is also aware that thereīs an issue with xcsoar protocol (digifly leonardo) that somehow is getting airspeed readings but no barometric readings. He will be addressing the issue. Probably if he resolves the protocol issue, we could use his solution/protocol to be implemented on lk8000?

Is it easy to add a nmea sentence protocol to the software compilation?

sorry, i have missed that :-$

reading your NMEA log, if you got baro Alt, you will also have airspeed and temperature.

with this sentence "$D,,84459,,0,29,,,,,," you have
- pressure : 844.59 mb
- airspeed : 0 km/h
- temp : 29 °C

I tryied the "Digifly" protocol without checksum under engineer.
Got barometric readings (height shows ok and change as I move the variometer inside my home). But canīt get any readings on the airspeed pitot.

So far itīs the closest solution. At least i get one of the readings. Still speed itīs probably the most "lovely" hardware feedback that one would need, as you wonīt find cellphones with internal pitot tube :)

Thanks for taking the time to read and answer.

I tryied Blueflyvario protocol as same as FlyNet protocol. With or without checksum enabled on engineer mode. None of those where showing feedback on the screen. So it does not recognize the pressure nor the speed readings.

So im still looking :)

did you try Digifly without checksum enabled ?
