Hi, Just my 2 cents... Few of my fellow friends flying with V1/Mio/V2/Funtrek is using 2mm plexi glass (acrylic glass) under PNA/GPS. Glass is bent using heat-gun on one side. It looks similar to this picture http://www.easydisplay.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/340x340/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/a/u/aufsteller_plexiglas_easy_clear_l_a5_01.jpg
With 90degrees miniusb plug it keeps usb interface from breaking.
Anyway if You look for break-proof solution, You are welcome to visit my website.

Posted - 31/07/2013 : 22:50:30 Hi I have broken my USB port just like you as I used a straight USB connector. The lesson here is to use a 90deg connector as it is more robust. As a paraglider pilot I only use the USB port for an external battery supply and for charging the onboard battery. My solution after failing to re-solder a new 10pin USB in place was to cut the wires from the internal battery and connect to the external LiPo battery which has its own charging circuit. The only other practical solution is to replace the circuit board. |
