Posted - 17/02/2012 : 17:56:48 I think it was left open, but nobody is working on it. The problem is not loading a waypoint file with UTM in it, because we can already convert of course to and from utm (we use it since ever for position reporting). The problem is the interface required to allow the pilot to enter waypoints in UTM format, and then edit them again in UTM format for checking or correcting. It takes quite some time to do it, and the result is a feature unused by gliders and GA.
An external program will make it better I think. |

Posted - 09/03/2011 : 08:52:04 Maybe someone could develop a small standalone CE application that would translate from UTM and also write a waypoint file in .dat or .cup format, and put it in the LK waypoints folder? If so, this file (maybe with a static filename like utm_converted.wpt) could be entered as waypoint file 2 in LK setup, and the coordinates would only have to be entered once, in UTM format. The rest would be automatic, just start LK and go. |

Posted - 09/03/2011 : 02:44:11 Correct. In fact with a CE application (or in fact any similar application running on a smartphone) you would convert those UTM coordinates into any other lat-lon format, and then use this lat-lon format to create waypoints inside LK.
A big competition would use waypoints from a distributed file of turnpoints.
But a small competition will require the pilot to create waypoints (ugly work). In this case the pilot must create one by one each waypoint, inserting coordinates.

Posted - 08/03/2011 : 17:42:01 We actually need a UTM coordinate converter running on Windows CE, as a standalone program. UTM coordinates should be converted to lat - lon for competitions.

Posted - 08/03/2011 : 17:35:29 Why don't you convert the coordinates with other tools? http://www.geoplaner.com/ Doesn't SeeYou support UTM coordinates? If yes, you could export the waipoints for LK8000. |

Posted - 08/03/2011 : 00:38:38 Good question... what version!? :-P
I don't know but as soon as possible! eheh I almost forgot this feature that is a most needed in some competitions. |

Posted - 07/03/2011 : 23:46:41 It depends on which next version hehe. I don't think it is possible now, too many things are undergoing already. |

Posted - 07/03/2011 : 22:44:09 Do you think it is possible to add UTM on the next version?

Posted - 17/05/2010 : 23:13:24 Paolo,
Thank you, we can wait! I just tried to give you the feedback of what happen in a real competition.
Start gates took sometime to be available on LK8000 but when we had them were working PERFECTLY! ;=) So no problem about waiting! eheh |

Posted - 17/05/2010 : 01:52:14 I have seen it again this evening. Adding UTM is simply a very long work, very very long. And once you create a wp with UTM, then you also need to view wp details with UTM. And probably other things.. I could quickly add a coordinate translator inside LK8000, to convert UTM to latlon.. But then the pilot should manually copy coordinates and create wps as well. For the long period (end 2010) it is necessary to have UTM supported, but we shall have also the time to do it, and to test it..
